A lot of change! How can I convert?

I work at a cinema, and we are CONSTANTLY after change. We pay to actually have large quantities of change delivered and notes taken. If you take it to any large firm, they should be happy to change it up, as it saves bank fees.0

That isn't a lot of change - consider that a lot of cashier positions will be stocked with bulk bags of each denomination, maybe more (i.e. £500 in £2 and £1, £250 in 50p and 20p, £100 in 10p and 5p, £20 in 2p and 1p - totaling £1780!)
I'd just take it to your bank, show your card to prove you're a customer, and get £1 coins instead. This is provided you use a bank and not a building society, or ex-building society, which seem to have limits (i.e. Halifax, Nationwide, etc.)What would William Shatner do?0 -
I just use the supermarket self service tills to get rid of my change these days.0

Bit of a revival here..
managed to save £500 in coins for the 'holiday fund' which has now turned into 'mortgage deposit' fund...
Where best to get changed commision free?
I bank with A&L, should they just take the lot at once or will it be a couple at a time?
Cheers

I think that A&L restrict to 5 bags of coins per customer per day. I think."Part P" is not, and has never been, an accredited electrical qualification. It is a Building Regulation. No one can be "Part P qualified."

Pubs are always on the lookout for change + taxi drivers.
Otherwise the poster who said use it at self service tills in supermarkets is a good idea and won't charge you.0
