My ex left me

She contacted me in January saying she wanted to remove her name from the motgage. I talked it over with my current partner and we submitted an application. The ex at this point wanted nothing from the house just the fees paying which we agreed. 5 months later and we are all ready for the sign over but she has now said she will not sign unless I pay her 2 grand. The house is in negative equity by about £10,000. We have spoke to the solicitor and she has told us we have 2 options. 1 is to pay her what she wants but advised us to try and seek a lower sum. Thje second was to go to court which would cost a lot more. I have spoke to her and offered her a reduced amount as this is all we can afford but she point blank refuses and is threatening to move back in. I have reached the point now where I dont care. I feel I have been reasonable enough but she seems to think I am trying to fleece her. Needless to say this has caused a lot of stress and upset to me and my current partner. I feel court is the only option left to me as i dont see any other way of getting through. It is gonna cost me more money but I want her to know im not gonna give in to her demands and that I am serious. My only worry is her gaining access to the property while i am not there. I dont know what to do for the best.
The solution is simple. Do nothing. Shes the one trying to absolve herself from responsibility for the mortgage. She probably wants to buy a home with someone else. Thats the only reason shes back in touch and her current liability for this mortgage is blocking that plan.
Tell her she either signs and walks away free of responsibility or if she doesnt, you will counter claim for her non payment of mortgage since she left. Give deadline, wait and see. DO NOT PAY anything either to her or a court.0 -
My wife left 2 years ago. She too just turns up when she wants and even goes through drawers, cupboards and wardrobes. I am amazed that the law allows her to do this - apparently whilst she still has her name on the deeds she has access to the property. We aren't divorced yet, but there are items in the house that I have bought since we split up, and that are personal to me.0

I think she is bluffing. If I had the money I would prob give it her to get her out my life the problem is I just dont have it to give her and she refuses to negotiate.
I had to change the lock as the barrel was sticking.0 -

After 2 years she still comes round? There is something wrong there. She has no reason after 2 years to be spying on you. What is it with women they leave you and then they get jealous and possesive when you try and move on with your life. Im guessing you still have feelings for her which is why you are not divorced yet but if you don't nip it in the bud now or you will never move on, and prob end up in the same messed up situation as me.0
