So presumably she's going to start paying her share of the mortgage again...unbelievable.
I think you should arrange to let all your spare rooms out in the meantime. After all, you had to pay the mortgage without her help...

    Yes she can.

How about putting the property on the market or advertising the spare room on https://www.spareroom.com or similar?

How can he put it on the market if she is part-owner? Only option might be to default on the mortgage and get it repossessed. But OP will then get a much reduced settlement if it is auctioned at a low price.

Now all you need to do is take the sofa out of the lounge, she'll not want to sleep on the floor for long...

He can drive the issue of marketing the property thus signifying the ending of the relationship. Also,if she moves in,he could move out, rent somewhere else and stop paying his half of the mortgage. Works both ways....
If he signals that he will move out if she moves in,it may block her from moving in.

Strangely enough the ex is posting with the same username over on the Benefits Board about how her HB has been stopped?

    Do I smell TROLL?

And they both spell 'now' wrong (know). Your nose is correct.

  • I am in a similar situation with my ex partner. She left over 3 years ago and I ended up staying in the house and paying mortgage. She contacted me in January saying she wanted to remove her name from the motgage. I talked it over with my current partner and we submitted an application. The ex at this point wanted nothing from the house just the fees paying which we agreed. 5 months later and we are all ready for the sign over but she has now said she will not sign unless I pay her 2 grand. The house is in negative equity by about £10,000. We have spoke to the solicitor and she has told us we have 2 options. 1 is to pay her what she wants but advised us to try and seek a lower sum. Thje second was to go to court which would cost a lot more. I have spoke to her and offered her a reduced amount as this is all we can afford but she point blank refuses and is threatening to move back in. I have reached the point now where I dont care. I feel I have been reasonable enough but she seems to think I am trying to fleece her. Needless to say this has caused a lot of stress and upset to me and my current partner. I feel court is the only option left to me as i dont see any other way of getting through. It is gonna cost me more money but I want her to know im not gonna give in to her demands and that I am serious. My only worry is her gaining access to the property while i am not there. I dont know what to do for the best.

Surely you have changed the locks after 3 years? That may be technically denying her legal acess, but if you do so then she will be the one who has to go to court to regain access, maybe she doesn't want to spend the money to do that and is just bluffing to get some money off you.
