Best ADSL router modem

D-Link DIR-825 came out well around £100 each. Not much support for Mac's though, but if you've a Windows PC you are OK.
How did they figure out that there's not much support for Macs? End of the day it's only going to get a network address.
OP: I would go to the D-link's FTP site and find your router, download the latest firmware (v2.02b2t8uk) and set your router up again with WPA on the wireless and a password on the router so noone can use your internet or tamper with your router (I know d-links have a habbit of using a quick setup which misses security on the wireless) I would also make sure you have the correct router settings from your ISP.
It's worth trying this before you buy a new router lol, remember to update the firmware via ethetnet (wired) and not wireless. To access the router setup page type http://192.168.0.1 in the address bar.0 -

THANKS FOR THE LINK ... STATS AS ABOVE. All double-Dutch to me, however.
(Sorry, this seems to have come out all over the place ..!)0 -
Thanks, will look into Paul's suggestion, re his D-Link. Equally, the cheap-as-chips Thomson (although I have unhappy memories of the Speedtouch USB modems from of old)
Thanks again ... I'm taking it all in. If any of the above figures mean anything, then do please shout!!0 -
The BT Home Hub is a Thomson speedtouch last time I checked...

everything works on a mac... the software supplied won't, but who needs software, plug in, get a local IP, and then add in your details into the modem/router
<complex bit.. ignore>
the only complexity comes in when you want the modem/router the actual external IP out to another router, which you want to do your internal routing.. the Linksys I have does that job fine, and was relativley easy to set up..

USB modems are known to be unreliable but Router modems are much better.Equally, the cheap-as-chips Thomson (although I have unhappy memories of the Speedtouch USB modems from of old)0 -
Thanks again ... do my STATS make sense to anyone? Good/bad or merely OK ...

Thanks, have got my hands on an old Draytek unit (2600) so will give this a whirl.0
