UK visa for my spouse

Hi all,

My wife and I would be so grateful if someone could give us some advice, or maybe pointed in the direction of somewhere to look.

My wife is a Filipina, we have known each other for one year, and I came out to the Philippines 8 months ago. We were married in March. The next step is applying for her visa.

From what I have read on the government website it seems that the advice we recieved to get married was incorrect. It would seem that she could have come to the UK with me, we could have got married and everything would have been really simple.

I don't want to apply for the residency visa as it is about 700UK pounds and takes 3 months for a decision. I want to come back to the UK sooner than that.

If we apply for a general visitor visa this cannot be changed and she would have to leave after six months, and then apply for the residency visa.

Sorry for such a long post, but I wanted to include lots of details. Please help!!!

Kind Regards.

Hi, you should apply for a marriage visa, this is valid for 2 years and if you look on the government website it will tell you all the details you need.

Start by contacting the British embassy in the phillipines... they will be able to advise you and make sure you try to make friends with who-ever you speak to there... my dad is married to a russian lady and trust me the friendlier you can get with the embassy staff the easier your life will be in the long run :)
