Ryan air to charge to use toilet

They don't have to provide toilet facilities at all
I believe you will find they do - they serve/sell alcohol therefore by law they must provide a toilet.
But anyway this story has been about a few months and was a publicity stunt started by RyanAir to get people taking about them. It is untrue, the MD himself said so on a TV interview, he tried to say it was an April Fool.
I have use3d Ryanair once, and I would go out of my way to avoid them at all costs now. They try and say they are low cost and then try and charge you for everything but the air you breath on the plane. The planes are only cleaned at the start of the day so by teh end they are manky.
You really need to dig deep to find all the things they charge you for to compare their prices fairly.0 -
It seems like they don't have to provide toilets.
A spokesman told Times Online: “The situation is that there is no legal requirement for an aircraft to have a toilet onboard, so if an airline does have a toilet they can charge to use it.
“Ryanair is legally able to do this.”

That's to stop the hobboes from sleeping in there.
The loo's on the trains are free to use, you're not comparing the same thing.0 -

By which countries law are you referring? United Kingdom laws are irrelevant when the planes are registered under the Irish flag.I have use3d Ryanair once, and I would go out of my way to avoid them at all costs now. Erm, you'll find that it's a same situation across all airlines. The planes are cleaned by the Crew to the best of their ability when the plane is on the ground - but given that Ryanair's model relies on keeping planes in the air (which is where they are most profitable!), you can't expect them to be thoroughly cleaned from top to bottom. Ryanair actually do a fantastic job of keeping the planes relatively clean throughout the day.You really need to dig deep to find all the things they charge you for to compare their prices fairly.
If you don't take bags, check in online and use a Visa Electron card, you can avoid their charges. It's not rocket science. From Poland...with love.

I don't care if you pay 1 p or 100 quid! What if someone has a bladder issue or something of the like and had to keep forking out pounds to use the toilet? What a joke and honestly I don't care how clean they are. That's what the people get paid to do...make the passengers flying experience decent atleast. Not everyone pays pennies for a flight on Ryan Air so I surely hope that those who continue to fly with them...get their "money's worth.
That airline is a damn bloodsucker or well moneysucker.

Then they should figure that into the costs of flying with Ryanair. It's common practice in Poland for toilets to be charged for - what if someone had a bladder condition and needed to go frequently? Then they pay. It's that simple. The exact same analogy can be used for train stations in the UK.What a joke and honestly I don't care how clean they are. They're paid to take you and your things from A to B at the price you paid at the times they said they would. Nothing else. That airline is a damn bloodsucker or well moneysucker.
It's a business! it's job is to MAKE MONEY.From Poland...with love.

As discussed, no it's not even close to the same. Loo's on the train are free to use. The correct analogy would be BAA charging to use the loo's at the airport. But they don't.
And I couldn't give a monkeys what's acceptable in Poland.PolishBigSpender wrote: »They're paid to take you and your things from A to B at the price you paid at the times they said they would. Nothing else.

I disagree, as a captive passenger, I believe the airline should have legal minimum service/comfort obligations in addition to making money. This should include potable water, and access to a toilet FOC.
The only reason it isn't an CAA/JAA obligation is that no airline until Ryanair has been stupid enough to consider what Ryanair considers to be reasonable business practice.0 -
I sometimes think that Polishbigspender is Michael O'Leary.
I hope Ryanair do attempt to charge for toliets and look forward to them (yet again!) losing a case under the Discrimination Disability legislation - remember the wheelchair charges saga?
Michael O'Leary is one of the biggest adverts for regulation against unfettered capitalism - a truely loathsome man. I only hope that something happens such that he loses his wealth and he has to become a consumer of the sort of "price is all, stuff the quality" product he pedals.0 -
Who needs publicity when you have PBS bleating on about how good Ryanair is.
Used them once, never again.
Not saying that if they suit you don't use them (before all the O'Leary lovers hop on the bandwagon).
Just strikes me that Ryanair have less and less customer care. You are all just bums on seats, and good luck to you.
I would rather spend a few quid more(and honestly I have just had two flights with BA and Virgin where the cost difference between them and Ryanair is minimal) and get at least a service fit for a human being.
I can check in online, prebook my seats and have a nice calm relaxing flight. That is what I want as part of my holiday, NOT the free-for-all that happened when I used Ryanair to Rome.0 -
I'd be very surprised if this happened.
At first people would be put of buying a drink or a snack from the staff if they knew they had to pay for the toilet too, I realise it would probably settle down but less people would buy the refreshments. That would hit in the pocket much more than a pound for the lavBut if ever I stray from the path I follow
Take me down to the English Channel
Throw me in where the water is shallow And then drag me on back to shore!
'Cos love is free and life is cheap As long as I've got me a place to sleep
Clothes on my back and some food to eat I can't ask for anything more0
