May have happened through one of the Apps on Facebook (which facebook don't control), it definitely can't happen on it's own, it was probably something very innocent looking.

Go to MSN hotmail login and select "forgot your password?"
Follow the instructions to get your password reset.

BUT!!! make sure you don't have a virus before you do this!
Else the hacker could get access to your account again.

unable to get password as foolishly didnt have another email attached to the original account and hacker must have changed my secret question so no way can i access account.

I have ran scans and nothing detected

I am concerned that this hacker is still using my account and people think it is me

i cant see a way of closing the account if i cant access it, is there an msn help i can contact to report this

    https://account.live.com/HelpCentral.aspx?productkey=wlaccounts

    Search for "hacked"

Select "What do I do if I think someone is using my Windows Live ID?"

    Click on "Report to microsoft"

I hate this kinda thing, if it happened to me id email myself a link to a homemade "virus", one that would totally delete everything on their PC.

As greed is normally the drive behind account hacking, they wouldn't be able to resist "BankLogonDetails.exe" or whatever :p

my son's msn was sending !!!!!! to his friends...and theirs to him...they'd all been foolish enough to put their is and password into a site promising free winks or something...

..his password wasn't changed by the service..just the content :(

Once his password was changed the links stopped, and I have increased security on the pc and hopefully educated him on the necessity NOT to give out his password

Yep, seems innocent enough at the time.... Nobody seems to stop and think "hold on, this isn't a microsoft website, why do they need my password?"
Then the links get sent to your contacts, who assume its from you and open it, giving their computer lord knows what virus or malware.

    No it's not.

I literally have arguments with people about this, "but it's got antivirus, why do i need to do that online scan?? it's clearly ok!!".

Use the links I gave you.

Virus infections can and sometimes do, disable any installed anti-virus program.
