Does she have a mobile contract? My O2 includes web access.0

virgin media do broadband only, no telephone required. Go through quidco for cashback.
I'd also look into what the above post says, you can get USB 3G wireless sticks from any mobile network. It would solve your wireless requirement in one too and give her the benefit to use it in any location, not just her house.0 -
they have a contract with t-mobile and they have sent them a dongle (think thats what they call it) and she can get internet through that, buy it takes a very long time to load a page... i was on the phone to her (as they were asking for help as new to the internet) and 45 mins later page still not loaded so they thought something else may be better, as i have sky and have quick access0

do they have 3G reception at their house?

Make sure you click the 3G tab at the bottom to see the 3G results, dont be concerned with 2G.0 -

hi just looked it says excellent coverage....thanks for the link0 -
if its excellent, it could be a software issue on the machine. Have you had a close look?0

no as i am not an expert with laptops... my mum brought the laptop to my house friday and it worked perfect, which makes me think it can not be a problem with the laptop.. it is a new hp laptop0

The dongle will show a green light for GPRS which is very slow, blue for 3g and light blue for the fastest connection (cant remember the name of it now HDSA ??), so check to see what colour light is showing.
Take maps with a very large pinch of salt, i checked Vodafone 3g coverage all my town was red saying i could get 3g, got my dongle and it would only connect at slow speed (green light) turns out there is no 3g in my town even tho the map says there is !
Also the maps only indicate outdoor coverage, indoors you may not get a signal0
