Hi, a year ago I was just the the same. I loved buying stuff from the Next Directory and it never felt like I was really spending money! Then one day I sat down and worked out exactly how much debt I have, how much of my wages were going on the monthly payments and how much of that figure was just interest. I think I will never really cure myself of my love of spending money but I have definitely got it under control. Its been a long hard journey though. Good luck with it, it will be worth the effort.
  • Hi folks thanks for your replys
I have a few questions...I tried to get on here last night but hes bought a psp and was down loading stuff all night...........Can't say i won't be using it as I will be.

Whats an SOA and how does they payment a day work????
i get my monthly statements and I pay them just over what there asking for:confused:

The debt Im in is mine we dont owe anything on a joint bases
I owe on 2 cards ran up since losing weight and buying for the kids, 2 loans from been on my own and college and NEXT think its about £8000.00:eek::eek: all together
is there some one out there worse than me???

OK Ive not sat down and worked it all out properly as the kids are off school excuses i know but when there around you cant think
Then If I do it at night he just goes on about what he owes goes on about buying a house (which we could afford when hell freezes over) and its a no win there to sort it

SO here is my journey down the debt free lane

    Well done you

I think I know what you mean and I am not sure which would be more cost effective. I would have a look at ebay and see how much those type of clothes are selling for then compare them with the cost of cheaper replacements........................................I think you may find its a fine line and the savings may not be worth due to the ebay fees. Also it does depend on how young DD3 is compared to DD2, if you are going to have to wait 3 years or so before DD3 wears the clothes then I think you would be better off selling, fashion changes even in kiddie wear ;)

Yet theres around 3 years between each on, Plus DD3 is18 months old now and has only gone into 12-18 months clothes a few or so ago, Shes just a little dink like her mum.

Going to keep thinks like hello kitty stuff and jeans, but will get rid of the rest

Do you deal with paying all the bills????

You see for the past 20 years I have always dealt with everything in semi-secret, the OH used to argue, threaten to give up on life etc blackmail me, convince me he needed this the other. Last year I took a stand and stopped treating him like my child and I think you are the responsible adult here..................sorry if thats harsh but your comment on the jacket kinda hints at a teenage son syndrome!!!
It took alot for me to realise that by allowing my OH to behave this way I had done him a diservice by not allowing him to grow up. The down side, for me now is, he is mean with us but not himself.................he NEEDS things, but we on the other hand get "well do you really have to have that" Not in a nasty way but inhis mind his things are important, thats what comes with having run around after him!!!

Because the OP's spending on ebay and catalogues when in debt is the way a 'respsonsible adult' behaves isn't it..............pot kettle black and all that!

    Will
    SShhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
  • I do pay ALL of my bills first

Then I see that I don't have much left so to cheer my self up and have something to look forward to I order from next buy from ebay

The the next month I pay my bills see that I don't have...................................................................ebay

Plus I should of stayed fat as then i wouldn't have any conference and would want to stay in and hid from the world But loosing the weight now I have conference want to look good and don't want to hide any more just got to learn to hold my head up pay all off and say I HAVE NO DEBTS

    sorry

so Ive got to plan a head and look forward to something to save for as well as tackling my debts

    Sorry I not sure I understand???

To answer you SOA question its a statement of affairs, if you use Makesenseofcards
It will help to include those things that come along once a year and to try and work out what you are really spending.

As for Payment A Day (PAD) its a thread here that you join and promsie to pay a sum of your debts every day, heres the link PAD
I have only just joined and I am hoping it will help me stay focused:T
