AA Renewal up from £29 to £47.50

I purchased AA roadside cover last year for £29, however the renewal price is £47.50. Maybe the £29 was just for the first year, but they are still offering £29 to new customers.

I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations on how I could reduce this cost? Either by taking my business elsewhere, or simply threatening that.

Let it lapse for 1 day and by new. Was a discount form quidco as well.

Or go for Auto aid which is about £36 every year.

Yes, i would cancel it, dont forget to let them know by letter recorded) i suppose you could also do this by email and ask for confirmation that they have received it and also cancel the direct debit wich will go out automatically from your bank. Find a new supplier for next year, play them at their own game and just use them alternatley yearly

use the RAC this year as a new customer i think they offer similar price for new customers (thier cover covers you not just the car at this price, where as the AA cover at this price only covers the car) then next year change again to AA as a new customer.

no points for being loyal these days.

each year when it comes to renewal time for me I see what the quote is that they send through - normally way higher than the previous year - then look on their website to see what price a new customer is/cheapest cover. I then ring up and see what they quote me over the phone then say I have seen it on the internet at whatever price for a new customer so could I cancel account and reopen as a new customer - at which point they normally either match it or do some sort of a deal

The first year I did this they matched the price
Another year they gave me joint cover for the price of what I was quoted for single cover
