    If you are doing the job properly, you extract all the gas - that way you can see the loss and if there is very little left in the system, which would suggest a leak.

    Unfortunately it is now illegal to recharge and dye..... The dye was an excellent way to find a small leak ie from an 'o' ring or something simple and cheap to repair.
