Thanks very very much ToffeePenny. I will get that sent off.
Do I send it to all CC's AND my old bank? Or should I just start with the bank? That's where the most charges are but there are some with some of the CC's i think!

Hi everyone, I hope you're all doing better than me at the moment! I posted the paragraph below on the 'ask a CCCS counsellor a question' thread but nobodies replied and I really need some advice! I know you guys and gals will try to help me.
I'm currently on a DMP with CCCS which I've only just started. My second payment is due on the 1st August. I have a huge problem, my boiler just packed in and I don't have hot water or heating at the moment (although my heating's not really required just now). The trouble is I've had someone in the look at it and basically I need to replace my boiler. I've had a few quotes for this and everyone has quoted well over £1000. Unfortunately I don't have any insurance for this and my house insurance doesn't cover it. What do I do apart from curl up in a corner and cry? Is it possible to seriously reduce my DMP payments for a few months so that I'm able to replace it? My only other option would be to take a credit plan with british gas, although I'll probably be refused this due to my bad credit rating. I can't ask a family member to help out as my sister's getting married soon and everyone's payed out alot of money for that. Oh god, I really don't know what to do, any advise would be appreciated.Do what you want because in the end people will judge you anyway.0 -
Hi Rachael!!
What a nightmare. My boiler was messing me about just before xmas and luckily i got it fixed for a comparatively small amount but this is my nightmare situation, as i'm sure it's going to go competely soon!
I say phone CCCS and talk to them but I think you should definitley be able to pay a reduced amount to cover it! i've seen other people on here do it for car bills and other stuff. so it shouldn't be a problem!
hope you get it sorted soon!! and at least it isn't winter it's gone in. (altho you always need hot water).DMP Mutual Support Thread Member No 261Debt at start of DMP (Jan 2009) = 46,147.86 Now = 36,826.98DFD = [STRIKE]Jan 2014[/STRIKE] May 2013 ([strike]60[/strike] [STRIKE]52[/STRIKE] 41 payments to go)NSD:Nov 12/12:jDec 9/10 Jan 5/10Slowly but surely:coffee:0 -
Afternoon all!!
haven't posted for a while as its all been a bit quiet on the ole creditor front - then today get a lovely letter from cccs saying that Lloyds & Egg won't accept the offer cos they want LARGER payments - OF COURSE THEY DO!!! HAHAHA
but then the next letter is from Northern Rock saying they are accepting the DMP & i owe them 3 times the amount i owe Lloyds & Egg & the dmp payment is only slighter larger!
what are these people playing at! it makes no sense to me.
cccs said this is very common & they are going to continue paying - i've even sent 'interim' payments to all my creditors as have extra money at the mo.
still - the DMP is the best thing we have done - wish i had known about them years ago!

Hiya StOlli
am kinda in the same position but will wait until my DMP has been running a while & then there are letters you can use to request the freezing of charges & int - as you say - with teh int piling on - we could be paying these debts FOREVER.................................................................
Just a thought - have they issued a demand notice on you? this what follows a deafult - once demand has been issued they should freeze int & charges anyway.
sasGood morning all!
I'm into my 4th month of my DMP and most of my creditors have stopped interest charges except for Halifax and Lloyds TSB. I know a lot of people have advised that things settle down and eventually they will stop these charges but what happens if they don't? Both of these credit cards were taken out years ago so I'm wondering if it would be worth sending off for an SAR?
Obviously I do want to repay the money I owe but they aren't really helping the situation by adding more and more charges and interest.
What to do, what to do........ :rolleyes:Massive !! LBM June 09 - Debts [STRIKE]£70k [/STRIKE] now £63k (PPI Claim succesfull)

Well they have sent me standard leaflets telling me about defaults but I don't think they have actually issued a default. I know this sounds really naive considering how long I've been on this site and the fact I'm doing a DMP but is the only way to find out by checking your credit report?Light Bulb Moment 4th January 2009 :eek:Started DMP 1st April 2009 :ADMP mutual support thread member: 267 :j0 -
Hi! I'm just in the process of setting up a DMP with Payplan, so thought i'd come and say hello over here. I'm up to the point of where my offers are going out.... hoping everyone will play nice and accept them because i don't know what i'll do if people start being awkward - i can only pay what i've got at the end of the day. At the moment all of my creditors have been quite good and are patiently waiting for their offers to materialise...... i'm guessing i'll start getting the letters and phone calls again over the next couple of weeks though.
I'll keep you all updated x0 -

There are some great standard letters on here for peeps to use. Thanks to all the posters that are saving us from wading through reams and reams of search results. :T I've saved a couple of templates in case I need to use them.
Quick aside, but since I've been living without credit (just over a month now) things have seemed a lot easier and I feel a lot more in control. As an example, for years and years I've took part in the Old Stylers' monthly grocery shopping challenge, and this is the first time ever I think I'm going to come in under budget (see sig). And majorly under budget too.
Re the phone calls. I made my first payment to Valour on 26 June and they sent out the necessary letters shortly afterwards. And then the phone calls started. Egg were brilliant and agreed to suspend all charges and interest for 6 months, when it would be reviewed, even though they'd not even received their letter of authority from Valour yet. Barclaycard were ok once I gave them the name and number of my DM firm. But Argos credit card were being so arsey I was refusing to confirm their bloomin' security information, saying they called me and could be anyone.
Yesterday, after ignoring their calls for a week (I have caller id and soon plugged in their number), I decided to speak to them but still refused to give them their security information. I told them my DM company had written to them and all correspondence and communication should now be via them. He was very, very snotty saying at some point I would have to talk to them, and HE hung up on ME. (I thought WE were supposed to do that.) :rotfl:
Anyway, today I decided to take another call from Argos and agreed to give them my security information. I did, she put me on hold for all of 30 seconds and then apologised. She APOLOGISED. She said they HAD received the letter from my DM company and that the phone call was in error. I wouldn't be hearing from them again.
I won't hold my breath, but still a result, eh? My advisor at Valour has told me that these people that don't even own the debt will try every trick to get us to part with a payment over the phone, even threatening bailiffs, which they can't actually instigate and it will take a damn sight longer, because they get commission on every payment we make. He told me to tell them that they can deal with him now, give them his name and number, and put the phone down.spendy/she/her ***DEBT-FREE DATE: 11 NOVEMBER 2022!*** Highest debt: £35k (2006) MY WINS: £3,541 CASH; £149 Specsavers voucher; free eye test; goody bag from Scottish Book Trust; tickets to Grand Designs Live; 2-year access to Feel Amazing App (worth £100); Home Improvement & Renovation Show tickets; £50 to spend on chocolate; Harlem Globetrotters tickets; Jesus Christ Superstar tickets + 2 t-shirts; Guardians of the Galaxy goody bag; Birmingham City v Barnsley FC tickets; Marillion tickets; Dancing on Ice tickets; Barnsley FC v Millwall tickets0 -
Hi all,
I'm about to start my DMP with CCCS on 1 August.
A payment to one of my creditors (Virgin Credit Card) is about £40 per month more than their minimum charge.
How will this affect the DMP with them? Are they less likely to reduce interest?
All my other creditors will be paid less than the minimum charge.
Many thanks,
Paolo
