My phone line is with Sky but I'm going to call them anyway. My numbers were actually changed due to harrassing calls (not just from my creditors), reported it to the police and so have a crime number to back me up. I'm pretty sure that when I spoke to Sky initially they said if I had any problems unwanted calls I was just to get back to them. I'm so angry about this, I can't believe they've managed to get my numbers especially my mobile. Definately some illegal activity going on here!

Hi not posted in awhile and only just catching up on the posts so this one may have already been answered but have you ever called Lloyds from your landline or mobile? I rang them a couple of months ago and the guy asked me if the number I was calling from was my contact number!

    Just a thought...xx

I have received a statement from Sky Card, at the moment they have accepted my DMP but haven't stopped or even reduced interest, I have written to them a couple of days ago asking them to reconsider, so I am awaiting their reply, in the meantime they have added over £100 of interest and charges this month, my pro rata payment to them is only £15 per month as that is all I can genuinley afford a the moment, so it doesn't take much to work out that at this rate my debt will increase more than £75 a month.

If they refuse to stop or at least reduce interest I don't know where to go next, I really want to make a go of my DMP and pay back as much as I can especially to those creditors who instantly accepted my plan and stopped interest, but to be honest if Sky Card won't even attempt to help me I will have to consider other options, I just don't understand them at all, yes I have broke my agreement with them, but I genuinley want to pay them back what I owe, but they want to make it virtually impossible, If I bankrupt myself they will end up with nothing

    Hiya,

I have had Credit Expert for about 18 months now and my big debts are still present including all the defaulted DMP debts, apart from one. My MBNA account disappeared when it was sold to Equidebt DCA. Our mortgage and secured loan are also still shown.

If your credit file is showing only satisfactory accounts, then this can only be a good thing. I've got another 5 years until the last default drops off mine. Plus I still have 1 DMP account that has yet to be registered as a default, so it might be even longer!

Have you tried looking at the other credit reference agenies?

    Cocker:)

    Hi Cocker,

Thanks so much for your reply. I guess I'll just keep an eye on that for now then and see how I get on. I know the debts still exist as I am still paying them each month but literally every one has disappeared and I know not all of them have moved over to DCA's so slightly confused/worried. May phone CCCS and ask them about this.

Just to throw into the mix had some worrying information today at work about this new 118 800 scheme. Am wondering if this will affect us and our privacy from creditors? To shorten is a service whereby anyone can phone and ask to be put through to a mobile number, and if they have you on their database they can do that. I have been lead to believe the ways they can contact you is by txt to let you know 'x' is trying to contact you and then it is up to you whether you reply but also i have read that it may be like the old directory enquiries service whereby they contact you and ask to put someone through. I personally never give out my mobile to creditors as I don't want to be contacted morning, noon and night and specifically requested that they write to me, however we know sometimes that the odd one slips the net. You can remove yourself from this database and I think I will do this as even though they do not give out your number direct I don't want to have the hassle of being contacted with requests to phone people or having people put through i.e the cc companies etc or joe bloggs off the street.

ahem... Morning all! Remember me? :p

Sorry haven't been around for a while, been real busy at work (extra hours = extra money :j) everything gone quiet on the creditor front, we haven't had a proper monthly statement for ages. It seems only Halifax bank update us with our overdraft statements. No one else bothers us including the dreaded DCA's; not one peep since the good ol' CCA £1 request was sent to them ;)

I have also waited for ages for Tax credits to send through our renewal notice  I tried to call CCCS for an update which was due end of May but they said they needed real figures for income not estimate. The first notice Tax credits sent got lost in the post, then when the second came they had OH as not working so had to call to change details but finally we got the correct one through to contact CCCS! :D

We have managed to up our payments by over £100, which brings our debt free date to just under 9 years - December 2017 :j I am now looking at 101 months left instead of 143! :D I am really chuffed because our debt free date was over 13 years before. We still have outstanding ppi claims with the FOS so fingers crossed ;)

Between you and me, I fiddled the figures a bit as the original figure CCCS suggested was well over £500  We would have struggled to pay that especially towards the winter months when OH works slows up (builidng trade) so we decided to be a tad realistic and go for a figure that meant we could easily afford while work is good and save towards the crappier times we know will come. The lady who went through my review with me was so nice too, she even asked if that figure was ok as it was such a big leap from what we had been paying! She said to call back if we were finding it difficult to pay! How nice? :D

I always get so nervous phoning up for the review as I know they must think the figures you put down sometimes are questionable  Thing is you know you are in debt, you want to be debt free but you also want some kind of life too. I wouldn't mind going skint if I knew it would all be over in a year but to struggle for 5 or so years I think it would be too much pressure on ourselves to find the larger payment.

Anyhow I really hope all is well for everyone here, newbies and the ol' gang?

    Take care

    Rachel xx

No Great Whites I'm afraid, TP, just tiny (tiny) shoals of fishes in a stream at Polzeath...

thewad - MBNA were charging 36% at my lbm, kinda forced my hand...

helen42 - Unfortunately, there is never a guarantee that creditors will stop interest or accept your DMP, hence why it's classed as a 'gentleman's agreement'. Not sure how to work around that I'm afraid. As to PP's figures, they're only the ones that were taken at the start of the DMP, I can only think they'll get updated with the figures they provide you.

I don't think PP are perfect, but they do a job (certainly at the start) and will generally do what you ask them to. I think they are under a lot of pressure, but I don't think they're any worse than the charging companies, and probably have a little more clout than going it alone, but I could be wrong.

We are just about to start a DMP with CCCS. I have been reading a lot on this site and feel that some months we may be able to pay back more than cccs have budgeted for. My question is will it be ok to put this in my bank account-will creditors ask to see it in the future. Can I save and if no emergencys happen (such as our old car dying) pay it to cccs as a lump sum or will the cc companies then think we have more income all the time.
I am new to all of this and very confused.
Also, does anyone know how mbna react to dmp-I have 13000 debt with them and if they add on the interest my debt will rise as we will not be paying enough. Has anyone found themselves in this situation and what can be done.
Any advice about DMP most welcome as we haven't received pack yet
    Thank you in advance
PS_Hope i've posted in right place-sorry if not.

    Hi,

I asked CCCS a similar question as I do extra self-employed work as well as my main job and because it can vary I didn't want to include it in my income, apart from the bit I knew was guaranteed. What they suggested is I put it into a savings account and then once a year make an additional lump sum payment. So I've decided that at the end of Jan each year, once Christmas is over that is what I will do. But of course I am also going to try and up my payments when I get a pay increase in September.

    Hope that helps.

    Hi everyone,
I've decided to join this chat after loitering for a while because myself and my partner have got ourselves into lots of trouble even while on a DMP. Last October the stuff hit the fan and we had to face up to the fact we were in a lot of financial trouble, we jumped in with both feet into a DMP with a company that charge. (stupid I know but we were desperate).
Things did get sorted but then we started having problems between us, my partner was being bullied at work and things got really bad. We see now we were spending to comfort ourselves and cheer ourselves up but we have now blown more money in our new bank. My partner has now lost his job and my wage does not cover everything, I don't know what to do... we have now racked up another 5k outside our dmp which is 25k... please help....
    Wins 2010
    Hoping for one!

Hi we are currently in a DMP with Payplan and to be honest are not happy. We trusted payplan but are now findinmg that some companies are still charging interest (Which I have now negotiated a stop of with one of them so far and will be working on the others) and when i have rung payplan and asked them what they are doing they just reel off dates they sent emails to companies, but it seems that payplan do not follow up these emails.

I found out today that payplans balances for what we are differ a great deal to what the creditors say we owe some higher some lower, when i asked payplan why they dont check balances regularly it was explained to me that three months before the end of the scheme they write and get balances from all the creditors so what is currentlya 6 year payoff could be alot longer this is very scary that updates of balances are not obtained all the way through and payments are not adjusted accordingly.

We are thinking of taking over our DMP for ourselves as we are very unhappy with payplan ocer all as they never call back they send a standard email in reply to me every time and we want our debts to be paid back sooner rather than drag it out

    Any advice please?

    Hi,

I'm with Payplan (and have been for 18 months now), However I'm happy.

Payplan don't guarantee to stop interest, they can only ask - A DMP is an informal arrangement. In my experience they have asked on multiple occaisions however some creditors are a lot more stubborn than others (LloydsTSB and Barclaycard in my case).

In the case of balance updates, they made it clear to me that they are only estimates. At the end of the day, payplan (and the others) have a lot of people to deal with. Even if they wanted to, I doubt if payplan could get updated balaces every months. It took some of my creditors 3 months to even give them the balance in the first place (LloydsTSB again) and even then it wasn't correct. If you know a balance is incorrect, drop Payplan an email and they'll update it.

As for Payplan never calling back or just sending standard emails, all I can say is that, that's the opposite of my experience - they are excellent with me - I guess that different account managers must work differently.

Lot's of people handle their own DMP's on this forum and if you want total control, that may be best for you. It sounds like you are happy to talk to creditors yourself and there is plenty of advice on here.

However for me I much prefer them taking the stress of dealing with creditors away from me. 11 of my 15 creditors have stopped interest and 3 are on reduced rates with only LloydsTSB still insisting on full interest and being a nightmare to deal with whether Payplan or myself contact them (despite them telling me to go to Payplan!). I'm absolutely certain i couldn't have sorted this myself.

  • Hi All

This is my first time posting after reading some of the postings on here, and I am going to admit I need help. My wife is disabled and more or less bedridden with M.S. I am looking at doing DM and have contacted CCCS.

We live in rented accomodation and I just want to start my journey with you all by asking this question, " Can our creditors force us into cheaper accomodation, to enable us to have more disposable income"

    Thank you in advance
