Funkyfish - I'm not with Payplan but can you see that they've received your payments and who's getting how much? If you can see that it's probably all fine, sometimes the creditors take a while to accept/decline.

this is the thing, i can see what the creditor is meant to get but it says 'total paid' is £0.00 on all when i have made 3 payments now. I think i will email payplan & ask for an updatex

    Hi glitterlea,

I have a credit card and also a small overdraft with Lloyds. We have been on a DMP for just over 2 years and they are still charging interest on our credit card. They eventually stopped interest of the OD about 6 months ago, but that was only about £2.50 a month. The interest on the CC is £230........per month. I have asked several times, but obviously they are not budging. It really doesn't help at all.

    Guys

I just had to share this good, but confusing news. After a very long and tortuous phone call with the HBOS (take the shirt off your back collections dept) I managed to squeeze an agreement that they would reduce interest to 6% from 12.9% but no they wouldn't refund the interest since I started my DMP as they were certainly not allowed to do that and they never did 0% on DMPs. sighs and agrees
Got the statement from them this morning, and interest has been refunded and is now set at 0%
Confused, why do they try to make it so difficult????
Pleased, hope its not a one off.................

:mad:Same with me unfortunately, DMP since Oct' 07 and Lloyds only creditor still adding interest, have sent e-mail to Mr Daniels, received a note back stating can't stop interest and charges, but continue to pay the agreed amount and no further action will be taken..... All very well and good, but want to pay this off, not incur more.

Don't have anything positive to say about Lloyds.

  • I started my DMP with CCCS last June and no one has been in contact about a review yet ... thought you had one after 3 months... has this happened to anyone else?
  • Hi

I was under the impression that your first review was after 6 months, TBH CCCS didn't contact me either for a review so I called them as my circumstances had improved slightly and I wanted to pay a little bit more :o;)

BTW they were great, the call lasted about 5 minutes and it wasn't anything to worry about.

Hi, been on a self managed DMP since Aug last year - best thing I've ever done, well if I hadn't I'd be bankrupt.

All creditors have accepted (some after a fight) and stopped interest, but now I realise that I underestimated costs. Notably DS's shoes. He is 10 and has extra wide big feet - last pair of trainers cost £48  searched everywhere but that was the only pair I could find. Also the household fund has been hit by needing a new (well second hand) washing machine and roof repairs due to the heavy snow - didn't claim on the household insurance as it was below the excess but still enough to hit the budget.

My wages haven't increased this year (reviewed this month), fuel and council tax are the same but bus fares, food and clothes have all gone up.

So I need to reduce my payments by about 20%. No choice. Does anyone have experience of this?

Also, DH doesn't know (and never will - for reasons way too personal and complicated to reveal here). We both have a Tesco credit card, I've kept mine (don't use it, just pay the min) but I'm gonna have to bite the bullet and add it to the DMP. If I do that will it affect DH's?? Both at the same address but separate accounts.

Feeling v v low, just when I thought it was OK I realise that I can't survive on the amount I set. I don't go out, don't buy myself anything new and hate my job.

Can someone give me some words of wisdom to pull me out of this despair please?

Has anyone got any advice for Cloudy Day - i know there's a few of us who do their own dmp's.

Now my new bank account is up and running and have started to transfer essential direct debits and income into it, I was planning on phoning CCCS tomorrow to say "Yes, definitely go ahead with DMP" and "by the way, my good lady has just revealed a student loan that she forgot about adding another £3000 to the total debt"

How long does it usually take from the phone call to confirm income, expenditure and debt level to having the DMP up-and-running? for want of a better phrase.

Oh dear, re the student loan, is it with a bank? If not i was under the impression you didn't pay it back until you were earning a certain amount.

Anyways, from the time i had my phone call to DMP 1st payment etc was about 3-4 weeks. At a push if all goes to plan you might be able to get it set up for the 1st April.

do you know the process with the CCCS. you will need upto date balances from all your creditors and a copy of your statements for each of these to send to the CCCS. They also send you a pack which has notification of DMP template letters for you to send to creditors. Send these recorded delivery and digi print. Sorry if you now this already.

    Good luck :j

Yep, phoned them today and they said not to include it in the overall debt, something to do with the agreement not to pay until you reach a certain income level makes it "not normal" debt.

Am just about to head to the post office to get postal orders for token payments, after spending all of this morning cancelling direct debits for the debt and moving the essential ones to the new bank account. What a pain in the proverbial that process is!
