Hi,,Just thought I should update on my status. Been on self managed DMP under guidance from National Debt line since October and all 11 creditors have accepted offer, last one being Barclays.
I would advise the self managed route to everyone, as you have complete control over payments I just set up standing orders to everyone and they were very happy with that.
If I get any extra money at least I can pay just one creditor extra or all of them but the choice is mince.
Reading this thread it does not seem that letting someone else manage the DMP is hassle free and sometimes they cause issues by paying late.

Hi Shortie,
I'm leaning towards doing my own DMP have been with DMC for 2 years 4 months now and all bar Llloyds credit card have frozen interest so thinking now want to do this myself as agree some spare cash (if I get it), can go towards paying slightly more maybe the one that is looking difficult i.e. Lloyds in my case.
Any tips would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks MM2Long Hauler No: 51

I got a letter from MBNA today to say that they are accepting my DMP. They are the first of my creditors to respond positively to me. They are also saying that they will default me, but I guess it is better to be defaulted earlier rather than later.
I am feeling a lot better again today about things. I guess that tomorrow I will find out what the package is waiting for me at Royal Mail. Hopefully it'll be a nice surprise rather than something nasty.£365 in 365 days - £187/£365

Well, thus far, Santander is being incredibly annoying. They asked for income and expenditure, which I did this month for ALL our creditors, along with breakdown of what we could pay this month, which is at least more than the token £1 payment they received in the last couple months. And Santander returned our income and expenditure form along with the letter that we sent them. Attached to it is a letter from Santander basically saying that we can't assist you until you send in PROOF of your situation including: up to date bank statement, details of income, utility bills, and details of all other creditors. We wrote the amount of income in the I&E, utility bills (although obviously they fluctuate) were averaged in the I&E, and basic info on the other creditors was in the letter, including the balances and percentage of total debt and how much we were paying to each of them to reflect that. Then Santander says for us to contact CAB or CCCS for advice. Well, if they had read the letter, I DID get advice from CCCS, which is what resulted in that I&E and letter with the breakdown of payment that I sent them. And I stated it plainly in the letter that I had done it on the advice of CCCS. I am NOT sending them in my bank statements, as the bills are in DH's name, and the bank account is in MY name only. This is soooo aggravating.
AND our overdraft is charging us over £60 per month..... we were back within the limits of the overdraft... and then their charges took us over it again... and now they're charging us again!!! charges because of the charges!!! We have sent off our letters offering f&f settlements - one or two have accepted instantly. One or two have negotiated a bit. Some are just saying no - even to a bit of negotiation. My question is - does anyone have any experience of this. My instinct is to pay the ones who are agreeable and carry on paying the ones who are saying no as part of the dmp. I suspect they may come back to us - if they don't we should go back to them later and try again. All opinions welcome.0

tass - that's probably what I would do, but then we haven't reached that point yet. Good luck with it.MSE mum of DS(7), and DS(4) (and 2 adult DCs as well!)DFW Long haul supporters No 210:snow_grin Christmas 2013 is coming soon!!! :xmastree:0

Hi Tass,
I would pay the ones that have accepted the F&F and continue paying the others per DMP. Good luck with it and let us know how you get on.
MM2
p.s. can you tell us who your creditors are who accepted, as I'm nosey and it might be ones that I or others have when we might be in position to offer F&F:DLong Hauler No: 51

Hi all
We've been on our DMP for some months now with CCCS. The problem I seem to have is with Lloyds (no surprise there then). They have accepted the agreement for our bank accounts, for review every 6 months. This is fine as I just tell them nothing has changed and of course I will tell them if I suddenly come into money
The problem lies with the 2 credit cards we have with Lloyds. They have not officially accepted the DMP and are currently charging more interest each month than I am making a payment of - what am i supposed to do?!! I'm sure there was a letter template somewhere to try to request them to stop charging interest - does anyone have a copy please? Or do you have any suggestions of what to do? CCCS aren't being particularly informative on the matter.

Hi with Lloyds also, credit card, loan and overdraft (used to bank with them, for over 20 years, of course had to change when I went into DMP).
What can I say about these b%%%%ts:mad: on DMP now for 2 years 4 months, out of all my creditors the absolute worse. Interest stopped on O/draft after almost 2 years, but each and every week receiving letter with the usual threaths, but today nothing has happen, have asked them to default me so that I can start making a dent in this. Watch this space.
Credit card, again interest upon interest added, same as above, letter asking them to default me so that I can make a dent. As much as I pay, this does not cover their interest payment:mad:
Loan, after a year of hassle, letter to and fro, have had PPI repaid on this, balance was just over £11K, PPI of over 5K, they just took this off the balance (don't mind as this means I now owe them just over 5K). No advice to give really, just keep at them, write letters, etc, and maybe you might be lucky than I. If you have PPI reclaim it back if you think you have been misold. Good luck

My DMP starts on 1st of Feb, i've had a letter from capital one saying they have accepted but are defaulting me and i called (for the first time) all my creditors yesterday. 4 of them were very positive and have accepted with egg stopping my interest on my loan. 2 are yet to recive notifcation from CCCS apparently but fingers crossed they will be ok too.
Such a relief now... only 5 years to go :rotfl:
Thanks to everyone who's helped me on here. Hope i can be just as much help to others too. :grouphug::AGirlyPink:A"There’s always light at the end of the tunnel, maybe you just need to borrow a torch"CCCS DMP started February 2010 Estimated DFD August 2015 Total Debt 2004 =[STRIKE]£21,500[/STRIKE] 2010 = £9,850:eek:DMP mutual support thread: 3690
