    Hi all,

I got a text that said my Barclaycard account has been passed to Mercers. Now, I know that Mercers are only Barclaycard in a different hat but, having heard horror stories on here about them, it was enough to scare the life out of me..... Now really worrying. So far, Barclycard and HSBC have been my worst creditors; which seems pretty much the same for everyone on here.

Anyway, feeling pretty fed up about the whole thing tonight - more so after working out that I am unlikely to be debt free for 27 years .

Hope you're all feeling/doing better than me today...

    Hiya,

Mercers always threten you with a doorstep collector. I have yet to hear of a case where they actually did send anyone round. They did the same to me at the start of my DMP and nobody came calling!

I also spoke to one of the rudest woman I have ever had the displeasure of speaking to on the phone regarding my account. She denied any knowledge of my DMP and demanded a debit card payment. Needless to say I told her where to go, so she said that they would pass the account on to their solicitors.

Again, they never did and a couple of weeks later, I received a letter from Barclaycard stating that they had accepted the DMP. Since then they have probably been the best creditor to deal with and always continue to accept my DMP at each review.:D

    Hope this helps,

    Cocker:)

Thanks Cocker that's a great help

    hiya PSI

i think thats the deal with being in debtsville - good days & v v bad ones.

The most important thing to remember is - you are dealing with your debts - we've all had the LBM & here we are.

the support i get from here sees me through another day / week / month...

I must admit - the thought of debt collectors scares the bejesus out of me - hubby puts his head in the sand with the thought of that.

creditor update - spoke with the lovely M&S - actually really nice lady - was very sympathetic & wanted me to fax the cccs notification & she would update our redcors to stop the ''automated calls'' - even she admitted they were a bit overzealous.

only 8 more creditors to deal with..........

    sas

ps - PSI - our debt free date is 12 years
    Massive !! LBM June 09 - Debts [STRIKE]£70k [/STRIKE] now £63k (PPI Claim succesfull)

will never ever ever get credit again (couldn't if i wanted!!!! - LOL - have to laugh, keeps me sane.

    DFD 9 years away......................

Jon, six months in, I think all of my creditors have offered me F&Fs of between 50-60%, so if they don't accept initially you may find they offer you something. Having said that, all creditors treat all debtors differently...

I think something similar every time I see those ads too..
I sit there like.. 'Yah yah yah Shaaddup..'..

What they forget to mention is.. 'If you default on your agreement with us.. We will be sending in the dogs and the big guys. Who will tear you limb from limb.. and leave you destitute.. rags on your back.. and gruel in you bowl'

    lmao :rotfl::T

    Thank you for the replies....

I am sure that Mercers bark is worse than their bite - and I will probably feel a little better about it tomorrow . I guess I am finding the whole situation stressful and worrying (as I am sure are most of you!) and I want to fast forward to the point where my creditors accept my DMP and aren't threatening me with something nasty every five seconds either verbally or in writing. I had 27 missed calls on my mobile today!!

I have had several creditors agree for a 3 or 6 month period. Does anyone know whether they normally agree to extend for another 3 or 6 months at the end of this period? Or can I expect the "heavies" round?

I am really hoping (and in fact the only thought that keeps me sane) is that in time I will be able to offer F&F's and slowly but surely pay them off. I really can't face another 27 years of this.......

Sorry to sound so miserable tonight - think it is just one of those days! I have said it before though, and shall say it again, I dont know what I would do without this site and each and every one of you..... :T

  • Welcome to Yippee31, skintmumofone, ilovesooty and evening :p all...

I'm in post MOT bliss... car's running like a dream (she says touching every wooden surface) and got my breakdown insurance for 4.38 through quidco.. when the £30 cash back comes through anyway... :T

Called CCCS and set up a DD from my new Natworst Step account (only bank I can find that's not related to the others) and they're happy to collect payments on the 10th of every month so I'll have an extra week's wages in hand, which means I don't have to grovel and mess about with not paying lol... :j

I'm off for a much needed glass of wine (present from sis for looking after her chickens whilst she was on hols lol... i've not spent anything today!) :rotfl:

    love and hugs...

I would say that MBNA haven't issued a Default, and have agreed to the DMP for 6 months. Again, don't quote me on that!
