To be honest it is a bit like reporting abuse on this forum. They do depend on people policing the site on their behalf to ease the burden on their own resources.

However, I am afraid that I don't agree with you. I think that it is important for the Ebay community to help to weed out the sellers who are breaking the rules, after all no-one wants to buy something that's pirated or of dubious origins.

Quite often these type of items are poor quality anyway and whilst buyers should be aware that if they pay very little they are likely to end up with something of poor quality, it will make it a better shopping experience if the bad guys have been weeded out by a combination of Ebay staff and community policing.

ebay rely on users policing it themselves, so yes there are plenty of whistleblowers out there.

Things like surcharging or massively excessive postage tend to irritate buyers who will often turn sellers in when they come across auctions with things like that. I do think though that the people who whistleblow the most are likely to be competitors who see someone selling the same item and it must be tempting when you see them breaking rules and knowing you can get their auctions pulled, allowing yours to remain and get the bids.

It depends where you draw the line. I try to make a living writing software and selling it for well into five figures a copy. If I saw somebody knocking it out on eBay for £4.99 I'd be pretty damn annoyed!
You seem to be saying that some rule breaking is OK but some isn't.
    Can I help?

Sounds as though the OP might have had a listing pulled. ;)

I don't understand the point of view 'a copy of scooby doo then big deal' - it is a big deal, actually. Money was spent making the film, why should some cheat benefit from someone else's work and investment? It's illegal, period.

But it's not about taking care of Ebay/Paypal, it's about taking care of the people who made the film, from the technicians to the director.

It's also about taking care of the Ebay community..all the other sellers and buyers.
