I haven't come across this before.
We're considering a short break to Spain from a local airport using Travel Republic. I don't know who the carrier would be other than it's "no frills" one and requires you to check in online - presumably before you leave home!
I don't suppose anyone has any info on this and does it work ok. I take it you just turn up at the airport and go straight through to passport check?

To my knowledge the only airline that state it is a requirement to check-in online is Ryanair. If that is the case and it is a Ryanair flight I would strongly reccomend you book the flight directly with Ryanair.
EDIT: Ryanair may not be the only ones who force it; see below0 -

We are flying with Jet2 with hand baggage only and they have said we must check in online. We can then print off our boarding card and when we arrive at the airport go straight to passport control.
OP I would always book directly with the airline, not through a travel company.0 -

My bad, thanks! Thought it was only Ryanair that forced it.0 -
I don't understand why you would need to 'check-in' online because what if you did check-in at home and then was delayed for some reason?
We booked with BMI to Canada at Easter and all the paperwork/emails were BMI so after checking the terminal on Heathrow Airport's website we arrived at the terminal with about 90 mins before the check-in closes only to find out that, after trying to find the help desk as we couldn't see our flight at the check-in desks, BMI had 'upgraded' us to Air Canada at a different terminal!
So, even though we had stayed in a Heathrow hotel the night before to make sure we were at the airport in good time we found ourselves in the position of struggling with our luggage on the terminal transfer bus and practically running with our trollies to Air Canada's check-in with minutes to spare!
On the return journey it was a different story, arrived at Halifax airport 2 hours before check-in closed to be told the flight was overbooked and we were on standby - most people had checked-in online - but this ended up working in our favour as they asked for volunteers to fly on a later flight. We chose to volunteer only to be booked on the next available flight upgraded to business class and $500 Canadian dollar voucher off our next flight! Hi,
I have just done an on-line check in with my ryanair flight and printed off the boarding passes does anyone know if the numbers in the blue box on the boarding pass correspond to the seat numbers on the flight??? as I would like the three of us seated together but didn't or couldn't afford to prebook seats.
Also are you allowed to take a small suitcase as your hand luggage i.e the size an air hostess would use, it does conform to the measurements on the ryanair website but wasn't quite sure if this was acceptable.
thanks0 -
Ryanair is free for all, which means you are not allocated a seat.
You are allowed to take one piece of hand luggage on per person as long
as it meets the dimensions on there website.0 -
The first time I did an online check in was a BA flight to Malta, the instructions said to take luggage to bag drop D. This turned out to be a normal check in desk with an abnormally long queue!

Yup your right, it ties in with the flight timings with both airports we'd thought of going from!:wave:0
