using a 3 mobile to call another UK 3 mobile when in UAE

I wonder if anyone call help please as the more I read and try to understand this the more confused I become.

Basically my husband is in the armed forces and he will be visiting a port in the United Arab Emirates for a few days so I will get to speak to him. I have a 3 mobile and so does he, now from what I have read Skype either works or doesn't work there so I am not sure whether I will be able to call him via Skype or not for free.

If the Skype thing doesn't work as they are two UK registered mobiles will I be able to call him using my inclusive minutes, I don't think I will be able to but on another forum someone says they were using a Tesco UK registered mobile to call other Tesco mobiles in the UK from the UAE for free.

Failing that I think I can use sites like 18185 to call his hotel landline in the UAE for 10p a minute from my BT landline.

Sorry this is very confusing and I am not sure what the best option is so any help or advice you can offer will be much appreciated.

Skype only works when both phones are on a 3 network, so not there.

Your calls would use your inclusive minutes, but his would incur roaming fees. £1 a minute incoming, £2 outgoing

If this is for just one visit, I'd say call the hotel room as you suggested. He might get a local SIM from Etisalat or Du, which would cost you about the same to ring.

There are also global roaming SIMs, some with IoM or Jersey numbers, which could be useful for him calling you from there and other places, but unfortunately 3 don't include these in their minutes, so you'd probably use 18185 for that too.
