ntl
Hi, I live in a student house and we had a few problems setting up our ntl connection (for phone and broadband) but managed to get it sorted by October. I set up a monthly direct debit for the bills however have not been charged for anything or received a bill. Obviously this is great in terms of not having to pay but I'm worried about the long run implications, we can't afford to pay one huge bill when it eventually comes and as it'll be coming out of my account so my housemates are leaving it to me to sort out.
I have tried calling ntl they but they couldnt find any errors on their side. Is there anything I can do to find out whats happening and not be charged a bucket load in one go?
Thanks in advance.

i take it the ntl account department says it is set up.
all i can recommend is to pop into you bank and check if a direct debit has been set with between your account and ntl
also put aside the amount you should be paying. when u get a huge bill u should have the money put aside.
be aware if it is in ur name and you default/not make payments your credit rating could be affected which could go against you when u graduated and then try to get a mortgage/bank loan etc etcProblem with having access to internet is that i get asked by many to solve their problems
Well at least i learn something on the way

Hi, yes I received confimation of the direct debit set up from ntl with the correct details in October. When I last spoke to ntl which was a month a go now they said that the service was fine and they couldn't tell me when the bill would be sent as 'it didnnt tell them on the system'. They seem to blame the system a lot ::)
But I will take your advice about putting the money aside and think I'll tell my housemates too as when the bill comes they know they have to contribute too. When we had the set up last year with ntl last year they were quite regular with the bills and sent a bill update two weeks before it being debited from my account. I assume I'll have two weeks again when they eventually send it?

Hmmm I think I need to be less responsible. I talked to someone at ntl they worked out no one had 'activated' our account so he pressed the button to activate it...which means we will be getting bills in the future....my housemates are going to love me :P0
