Only what's left in the retail market - ALL discontinued, so don't expect any (proper) support...British Ex-pat in British Columbia!0 -
I am a mobile engineer, between us my colleagues and i have tried all the various sat navs on the market. The general consensus is with Tomtom. We think the ease of use andclarity of maps is the best available.
I am using Tomtom navigator and rather out of date maps but still gets me to pretty much every customers door.
It does miss some of the new bypasses but the postcode info is still very good.
I have also had some journeys where my satnav has stubbornly refused to deliver me to the right address and I understand your frustration but all the systems have weaknesses.
I think Tomtom are least likely to let you down MOST osf the time and when I upgrade it will be a Tomtom without a doubt.

Even the latest maps are often already out of date. Using maps that haven't been updated in well over a year won't help matters though
You have to keep an eye on the road signs and look where you're going largely ignoring what the sat nav tells you. Otherwise serious incidents may ensue. Sat nav can only ever be considered a guide, and not orders.

Agree with Basil on this one. Tom Tom is better. But, and there's always a but, the flip side is that Tom Tom operate a near monopoly and their out of warranty support is pretty atrocious - like most dominant companies they can afford to lose the goodwill of many customers. The man without a signature.0 -
I remember referring to customers as TSFS, Too Stupid For Satnav.
It was never their fault. Taking them the wrong way round roundabouts .... unset "pedestrian mode" .... they never set it to that
, keeps taking me off the motorway ..... unset "avoid motorways" ..... again it must have set that itself  Took me the wrong way down a one way street ..... did you not notice the big round red and white sign :rotfl:.
I did end up in a farmyard once but then I was out exploring deep in the countryside.0 -

Reminds me of the stupid woman from Rainham, Essex who bought and returned 3 sat navs to Halfords because to return home it kept on telling her to cross the QE2 bridge/Dartford Crossing. She got so irate that she got the local press involved.
Now everyone with half an ounce of common sense in Rainham, Essex, knows that there is a Rainham in Kent - Rainham, Essex mail sometimes gets misdelivered to Rainham, Kent and vice versa. So all it was down to was the lump operating the sat nav.
Before everyone derides satnav I would point out tha hundreds of thousands of us use it everyday without problems. The man without a signature.0 -
they should come fitted with a health warning like cigarrettes. warning! using satnav without common sense can kill!...work permit granted!0
