My DD had her approval come 10 days after doing the online form beg of May.
Tomorrow is always fresh, with no mistakes in it!

There's still plenty of time. Majority of people won't even have applied yet.

I've managed to process 60 assessments within the last 3 hours myself, so I don't see why there are backlogs when they have more staff.
  • I finally had a reply 9 weeks after completing the form online, they wrote and asked for information I had already provided, if they had bothered to look. Their letter asked me to reply as soon as possible to avoid delays! I replied 3 weeks ago and nothing since then. I suspect this is going to take a long time.

I'm so fed up with the process that I've written to my MP to complain.

My daughter has been non means assessed as they await proof of income etc before carrying out a means assessed application.

They also tell me that the proof of income was scanned in 5 weeks ago.

Student finance want me to sign and then complain before assessing.

I have been told it could be another 8 weeks which takes us towards the end of August.

  • I sent my application in on March (for 10/11), had it all sorted by April, but my sister who only just applied at the end of Feb for 09/10 application (shes an idiot) and has been told last week that it will take about 7 weeks to process . She had to resend evidence as she sent in the wrong thing, and said on the form she wanted to be non income assessed and not income assessed.

I have phoned them a few times, and always spoke to someone who is friendly and helpfull, and if you phone on a Sunday, you never have long to wait. I myself have never ever had a problem with Student Finance.

She got told that they get around 10 000 items of mail sent in a day, and thats why it takes so long.

I completely understand that it takes time, and it doesn't help when people send in the wrong evidence or fill out the forms incorrectly. My advice is apply early, and make sure to send in all the evidence and information that is required.

I sent all the evidence by the 24th April, and apparently it's still being processed. Very annoying.

My son applied for his second years finance in February and we are still waiting. When I supported the application it said no evidence was required. Two months later I got a letter asking me to send in evidence. They have also decided to do an audit of last years evidence, right on top of the application for this year and wanted evidence for that too. There was an email address on the letter about the audit but when I emailed they didn't answer. If I log in to the website it still says no evidence is required and it also refuses to link my account to my sons. It is a shambles.

It seems to me that student finance are no better than last year, in our case worse.
  • I would just like to give Student Finance a pat on the back! Application went in (April 2010) all paperwork and evidence was correct, less than 6 weeks later and I had an offer which I have now accepted :j
I know they have had problems, but in all my dealings with them I must say that they have been very good.
