How long does student finance take?

Hi
My son has just applied for student finance. He filled out his details online and has sent off his proof of id and financial assesment form off earlier this week. I was just wondering if anyone knows how long the process takes to complete and he gets confirmation as to whether his application has been approved? or is it just a case of how long is a piece of string?

Student Finance suck, they're so, so slow. I applied in late April and apparently my mum didn't send enough evidence of her not having a second job which i only found out because I called. Apparently they've sent her a letter. I have no clue when I'm actually gonna find out how much I'm entitled to but hey.. let's hope it's soon!0

Student Finance seem to be close to meltdown. My sons application was sent of almost 2 months ago and still nothing. They did have a contact by email on their site but this was removed as they couldn't cope with the volume of mail, so now they seem unable to cope with the phone calls, even though they make it difficult to find their number.
They seem to provide little or no information about applications and are dismissive if you do make contact with them. Typical, I'm afraid, of Brown's Britain.0 -
Someone on the student room forums keeps ringing them up about it and each time the number of weeks they are behind increases. They are now apparently 9 weeks behind with applications.
I'm glad I'm still on the old system of LEAs dealing with it as mine was done within about 3 weeks but all new students now have to go through Student Finance England directly.0 -
I think it probably is the luck of the draw!! I applied about 3 weeks ago - they had assessed and emailed me within a week and I received my confirmation paperwork in the post about a week later.0

We have 10,000 students and 4 staff, and the processing varies between within a week to 5 weeks. Depends who your work is assigned to for us.0

Very impressed with SAAS. My DD applied on Wednesday night online and had a letter today confirming that she had received her student loan.0

I'm a continuing student and applied online on 8th June, the application is still "awaiting assessement", last year it only took a couple of weeks after sending off the evidence. I think it just depends on who ends up assessing it.:kisses2: Got married September 2011:smileyhea
