Please explain how the cashback works

With firms like E2Save and CPW. Me and my wife spend about £100 each a year on PAYG and we both need new handsets. I don't really understand how the cash back works, they seem to good to be true but plenty of people on here seem keen.
If someone could basically explain the mechanics of cashback then that would be great, Cheers...........

    I've just bought my my second one from the mobile shop, who are excellent (in my opinion).

    I get 500 x network minutes a month for the 1st 3 months and 250 for the next 9.

    I pay my monthly line rental of £35 each month. With the phone comes 4 vouchers all with an expiry date on them, each with a value of £105. One has to be redeemed along with a copy of the 5th airtime bill, the next the 7th bill, then the 9th and finally the 12th.
    The cash is paid back around 45 days after the expiry date of the voucher, so you do get the money back in arrears.

    But for a years phone you pay 12 * £35 = £420

    and get 4 * £105 = £420 cash back.

    If you go to the mobileshop via quidco, you also get an additional £25 back.

    So effectively you are paid £25 for a years phone including a minimum of 250 x network minutes per month.

    Just remember to sendthe vouchers back at the appropriate time.

    Down side is they won't be the latest and greatest phones if that bothers you.

    Another thing that is good with mobileshop, is that when they receive your claim you will receive notification, either by text or email. :)

    With CPW and e2save its a slightly bit different different although the cashback procedure is nearly the same. With said companies, you have to send in a copy (either photocopy or printout online) of your latest phone bill (only valid for 30 days maximum) at months 4, 8 and 12 with a claim form so it can be processed for you to receive your claim. Claims should be send by Recorded Delivery as the minimum requirement so that if it does get lost in the post, you will have a proof of posting as you have paid for such a service, i.e. to get it signed upon delivery (however, it might not be displayed on the RM site as delivered, for some unknown reasons). Some people have posted saying that they have sent in their claim by sending it just by First class post and they get their cashback ok. A call to their Redemptions department may relieve you as they might have the claim form or will know more about it.

    Cashback is usually paid in 3 equal installments (with e2save and cpw). The cashback amount will vary according to the offer you take up. Some will give you an automatic credit of say £10 (this will vary) and the rest will be pretty much the remainder but paid out equally. So for example I have a contract which is 12 months free line rental. I pay £20 per month to Orange. At months 4, 8 and 12 I submit a claim to e2save at each of these points along my running contract. I should receive a cheque for £80 after my claim has successfully been processed and cheque sent. (Payment is usually received within 45 days). There is a calendar matrix to help you if you're unsure about which and when the bills you need to send in, you should receive this claim form and matrix in your package or if you have lost the form or did not receive it, you can print/view a copy off their website. Also, (I know with e2save) if you put in your order number online it will tell you the months you need to claim in (same result as looking at the calendar matrix).

    With e2save, they say that if you miss any claim deadline, you are able to receive the following others if you have any left to claim. However this is not the case with some other companies such as PBD (Phonebox Direct) and CNM (Cool New Mobile), miss one claim and the rest are void. You might end up with a contract that you don't need or you cannot afford to pay for this contract. This is how these companies are able to make more money for themselves, as they are refusing to pay out, by making such stringent conditions. :mad:

    With e2save, you get £31.50 for taking out a contract if you go through Quidco. If you plan to order 2 phones either in one session or on the same computer, you only qualify to get the £31.50 for each single transaction. So for example if you order 2 phones, you will only get £31.50. Whereas if you order one phone contract and then wait a while and then delete your Internet cookies and cache, go to e2save via Quidco and then order another phone contract, you should be able to get another £31.50. :cool: This is usually how it is done with these sort of transactions. Other transactions are just done based on the value of your basket, for example ordering some dvds or music CDs off a site. It depends on how the extra cashback from cashback sites are determined for transactions taken out with merchants. :)

    Also with some sites, you can refer a friend, your wife or maybe the other way round if you plan to get a contract from the same supplier, i.e. CPW or e2save etc... This means that you can earn a bit of extra money or maybe help bring down the cost of your bills (whatever they may be) :)

    One last thing to worry about cashback deals, the suggested advice is you're better off sticking to well established and/or BIG companies that will still be around to pay your cashback, such as CPW/e2save, The Link etc... However, I or many other factors/controls cannot know for sure that even these BIG companies may not go bust.
