Cancelling new contract with T-mobile.
Hi,
My girlfriend signed up to T-mobile last friday in a T-mobile shop at Lakeside. She Signed up to a £30 a month contract with 700mins free mins and unlimited texts. its an 18 month contract.
She works in Braintree in Essex and cannot get any signal at all in her office building. I told her to cancel the contract as she is not getting the service she signed up for regarding coverage.
The shop says as she bought it there she cant take it back, bu if she got it online she could cancel it.
i have been told by a friend that there is some law that states you have a 14 day cooling off period to any contract you sign up to. is this true?
Do we have a leg to stand on?
Thanks

The 14 day cooling off is online or if you buy over the phone. If you buy from a store there is no cooling off period, sorry....0

And unless she specifically asked if the area where she works has coverage, the lack of signal wont be accepted as a reason for termination...If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, we have at least to consider the possibility that we have a small aquatic bird of the family anatidae on our hands

ok, thanks alot for your advice!0

Check out their coverage map (on their website). If coverage is indicated at the office address then you would have a strong case for Small Claims Court. Do other workers in the office have similar problems? (it could be in part due to the construction of the building).0

rubbish ........ sue them in the small claims court.
How is that rubbish? There are many external factors which could effect the signal in an office building, which the provider is not responsible for, so unless it was specifically asked about, then there is no reason for termination due to lack of coverage. If it was their residence, it would be different, but it's not.If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, we have at least to consider the possibility that we have a small aquatic bird of the family anatidae on our hands

When looking around for a new phone provider, I looked seriously at buying from T Mobile, but was worried as I'd heard the signal wasnt too good locally. The guy in the store told me there was definitely a 14 day 'trial' period, and that if the signal wasnt good, they would cancel the contract. HTH0

Can she get a signal thought outside the building?
I work in several buildings where the phones are dead, even my local Tesco's is a black spot but absolutely fine as long as you stand near the door.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
