If the garden is only going to be used for veg, how about using something like the really appealing pink bath we have on our allotment?0
-
I don't want to be a party pooper but if your Garden is not near your house you have to think safely if you have a bath full of water make sure that no children can get to it, at least with a normal Water butt they have childproof lids. Angle have you got a Greenhouse or are you thinking of getting one, theres guttering available for them. The solving of a problem lies in finding the solvers.0
-
Yes you are right, sorry. Not thinking of the safety angle at all.0

slightly OT but is it ok to use the water from a water butt to water veggies. Should I treat it with anything, it's green and can slug eggs live in water?
Sorry OP, thought it was a little relevant to this thread...Good Enough Club member number 27(2) AND I got me a stalkee!

we have some large buckets just sitting under our shed overhang and an old paddling pool under the other side for catching water off the shed roof. If you have young kids nearby, you could put galvanized mesh over whatever you are using to catch the water.0

Thanks for all the ideas and suggestions.
We have no plans (and no space) to get a greenhouse.
The safety aspect is a very good point. The garden between our house and our garden belongs to a couple with 2 young boys who are forever retrieving footballs from our garden so we need something that is secure.
Morty_007 I'm not entirely sure, but I've always used water butt water directly on plants before without treating it and never had any problems.0
