I don't mean to sound as negative as my post reads, I was only sharing what I found with my prefolds, shaped nappies etc keep their price much better and I don't mean to try and put you off. It's always worth advertising them for free, what about your local gumtree?

I have 27 motherease one size, plus snap in boosters, plus wraps, plus bins, bags and lots of freebies I picked up over the years-I had 2 in nappies at the same time...

I remember checking ebay when i bought them and used sets similar to mine were going for around £170-I am a freecycler, but not when the items worth over £150 if sold in the right place!

As I said I was talking about my prefolds! I said shaped nappies hold their price much better, therefore would sell them on. As I said, I wasn't trying to put you off, I was just telling you what I found, I wasn't saying it would be the same in your situation (OP doesn't say what type you have!). I now use motherease, and plan on using them again, however if they are still servicable then of course I would sell these. As stated I was talking about my prefolds, which was my experience of selling like you asked for.

Try Netmums in your area http://www.netmums.com/home/home/. They have a thriving buy and sell board.

Good deed or not, I couldn't bring myself to give them away - they cost a fortune in the first place and a lot of the reason to spend that amount of money is that you can always recoup some of the initial outlay when they're no longer needed.

I bought loads of used ones for my daughter when her baby was due - they were expensive but well worth the outlay and she has already sold the first sizes on.

Sorry I do disagree slightly, my main reason for the initial outlay was to ensure my DD didn't have yucky chemicals next to her skin, to cut down on landfill, to cut down on overall nappy cost, longterm, and to ensure I was not making money for large nappy companies like pampers and huggies. The fact that you may be able to recoup some of your money is a bonus though.

I've lent my wraps to friends, my excess prefolds I made 4 sets containing 15 nappies and 3 wraps and offered these on free cycle, 3 were collected and the last I gave to my surestart centre to pass on to someone who could use them. I was given some of these so didn't feel right to sell them, then the rest I had bought before DD was born, worked brilliantly until she got active and then I found it easier to change to motherease.

I now use the motherease one size and these are brilliant, I'll be keeping these to use for other children I plan on having, but if any wear left in them I would consider selling them.

Feel free to disagree, that's the nature of a forum!

The most obvious reasons for buying cloth nappies are to cut down on landfill and the overall costs of nappies for 3 years or so. I was not discounting these points, I merely said a lot of the reason for buying is being able to sell them on (not necessarily the main reason). Nevertheless, the fact that they can be sold on for very good prices has a definite impact on many parent's final decision.........and rightly so IMO.

Almost all the ones we bought for DD were Bamboozles with a few other makes thrown in (all shaped ones). They've been fantastic and still look as good as new. Hopefully they'll still be as good as new when she comes to sell them on.
I let my mind wander and it never came back!

I understand why people would want to get some of the costs back, but overall they are cheaper than using disposables so in fact you have already saved a fortune just by using the reusable nappies.
