Hi there! This is the Daily Thread for 4th June. This is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly, but if not, it's not a problem.
Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Daily Threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good!

Morning everyone.
Early start here (unfortunately) but on the other hand I do like the peace and relative quiet of these early mornings.
Dry weather at mo although sky looks a funny colour over the back of our house so will have to see if I can hang my towels out this morning.
Got to put BM on (I swear we must get through nearly a loaf a day!) and tea tonight is another make shift as H is off out to a school reunion. Have got to batch cook some cottage pies for the kids so might do an extra portion for me tonight for tea.
At friends house this afternoon and then must be back in time for a reasonable tidy round as this new parent is coming to see me tonight. Just a tiny bit nervous which is odd as this isn't the first parent I've ever seen about "business" ;)
Need to start planning about what to take on hols. I've got a week but it could take us that long to get the ironing sorted. Want to pack a few days before so we can have a relatively early start the following morning. Am really looking forward to getting away. I haven't been on holiday since 3 weeks before DD was born!

Have a good day all OS or not!

    Morning Bitsy and everyone else.
Another good start to the day. I guess it will all end at some point with rain forcast. Some rain would be good for the plants, but not too long. I already have this feeling like summer is going to zip by and we will miss it.

Booked my son's USA trip last night, I always get a bit worried that I put the wrong date in or something. Got the best deal with Expedia this time.... He will be happy... I wish I was 18 again!

Work soon then a little shopping perhaps. I see Lidl have some cheap meats this week. Also for you ladies, most of my office are going to ASDA for OLAY beauty products which are on sale for £5 ish....
    Have a nice day..... Cheers

    Morning all,

A bit cooler here today, but no rain, off to work today, but I finish early I need to pop in to sainsbugs for a few things for the weekend, not much.

Something with chicken tonight, might do chineese style with noodles. Also need to get a couple of washes on to get ahead for the weekend.

My corgette plants have suddenly sprung into life, dont know why  but there are tiny flowers coming, so hopefully I will get some corgettes.

FE good luck for your scan today, xx

Jackie, I hope the mamogram was ok xx

Hugs to all in need, have good days all xx

Morning Bitsy, N9eav and all who follow!

Bin men woke me up early, and as the sun is shining in Hastings got up and made tea. Emptied dishwasher, and sitting here supping tea, deciding what to do today.

Ex-work collegue coming round for lunch today. I wasn't treated badly, but she's had a real time of it. They've medically retired her too, but she wasn't given any warning. Just paid her lieu of notice and sent her her P45:eek:
She's also been given her pension for only three years, they expect her to go back to work after that! She's getting the Union on to it, don't blame her.:o

DS has been packing his stuff into boxes, anticipating his move to his Dad's and (hopefully) Uni. Still waiting for the resuls of the English test. Good job I've got acrylic fingernails, or I wouldn't have any left!:rotfl:

Got quite a bit of gardening done yesterday. Picked a whole bowlful of strawberries. Delicious! Cleared out the bluebells and weeded the veg patch. Job wel done.

Shopping job to do tomorrow. Got to go and have a meal in a pub. taking DD with me. Hard life this retirement!:rotfl:

    Enjoy the day all!

    Good morning everyone,

Didn't get on here at all yesterday as I woke up with a migraine and ended up spending the day in bed  It's gone this morning though so I'm grateful :T My back is stiff & sore after not much movement so lots of moving about & stretching for me!

DS3 is going on his PGL activity trip today for the weekend with school. He's all packed and very excited ;) He's back on Sunday so I won't have too long to miss him. We're going up to school to wave them all off at 12.30pm hope I don't embarrass him too much!

    Plans for today are
    • Bring the house back to normality after my absence yesterday
    • Flylady list
    • Clean out the gerbils & fish
    • Take up some net curtains for MIL & re-sew a seam on some shorts
    • Bath the dog :D
Hope that everyone is ok I'll go and read yesterdays thread now, but (((hugs))) to anyone that needs them xxx

i hope you are all having good weather, the sky looks glorious from outside, but unfortunately i'm sat in a building with tinted windows so i can only see the tiniest bit of blue through the opened windows.... (they have brace things on so that they won't open far, probably in recognition of the fact the whole damn building is do depressing we may just be tepted to try to escape through them )

i have remembered to bring my lunch in today, which i have not managed 3 days this week, as i really am chuffed about that... so the OS is coming back a bit....

tonight i have lots of housework to catch up on, as i fell asleep at 7 last night, and crawled up to bed at about 10... i got an awful nights sleep after that . haha

2 loads of washing to get through, and i have to clear my kitchen and coffee tables off tonight aswell they are driving me crazy. i also need to meal plan for the week, and freezr some of the shopping oi bought home last night as i think i may have gone over board...

Good morning everyone  DS is up and breakfasted (apart from he took a sip of some milk, and it's on the turn - I'll freeze it to make into cheese sauce later :D ). DD has no more exams until Wed, so she's having a lie-in, a morning of study, the dentist  Then we're off the The Town of Many Charity Shops for a mooch and coffee and cake with some friends (who live in The Town ;) )

It's looking lovely here, but forecast not to last  If it's fine we'll barbeque this evening, otherwise, calzone and garlic gough balls :T

    Old Style jobs for today:
    • Quick tidy and hoover round
    • Flylady list
    • Menu plan and shopping list
    • Plant salad
    • Water polytunnel
Have a great day, Penny. x

    Morning all

Weather here bright at moment but it is forecast rain this afternoon so I have hung washing out on the line before work and as it is my early finish day today, hopefully will get home in time to take it in before the rain comes. I suppose it will save a job later watering the plants but once it starts to rain it forgets when to stop!!!

House cleaning and shopping are the order of the day after work, although I feel really shattered today. I still haven't fully unpacked our suitcase from the weekend :o(although all dirty washing taken out and done) so have some bits to sort out there and get the suitcases back up in the loft!

Right better get on and do some work! Have a good day all

    morning all!

didn't get chance to read or post yesterday so hope you're all ok.

Tired mum - good luck with the interview - hope you hear soon.

Had some good news yesterday - I had a cheque for £2000 in the post:j:j:j it was an inheritance from the old chap I cared for who died last November at aged 98. He was a lovely man - we were good friends and spent many an hour doing the crossword together. The letter brought back many good memories of him.

Am off to work later and sleeping in so not home till 7.30am - hope its a peaceful night there, have got 3 days off then:j shame the weather forcast isn't good.

I was given a load of foxgloves yesterday so planted them last night and they've perked right up.

DS1 is at present stopping with his partner in Worcester and job hunting - he's applied for 2 this week - he'll have a better chance in the city as there's nothing in the countryside where we are.

JackieO - hope the mammogram went well

PP - hope you're feeling well today x

Mrs_Mix and Catowen :hello: hope you're both well x

Hope you all have a lovely weekend x
    Do what you love :happyhear
