I have the N85. It's a great phone but it's a "slide" type phone so is very different in use to the N95. The software is basically the same though. The screen uses new OLED technology rather than TFT-LCD and is fantastic.

I had one for a few days (before I sent it back) and found it to be terrible.

    - Sending a text message took about 30 seconds (from the moment I pressed "send" to the when the "sending message" screen disappeared). I assumed that closing the "sending message" screen would make the phone send the message in the background while I did something else, but no, it just saved the message to drafts - useless!
    - phone reception kept dropping out as I walked around my house (I get consistently good reception with my old iPhone).
    - I couldn't get a shortcut to my email inbox on the shortcut bar and the phone refused to delete a number of emails from its inbox (even though they had been deleted from the exchange server I was working from).
    - I had to change the access point that the phone used to fetch emails every time I moved in and out of range of a wifi hotspot (I don't know why it didn't use an AP group like the web browser does).
    - Synchronising the phone with Outlook totally ballsed up my calendars - I ended up with three copies of every appointment!
    - Moving music and videos from my PC was horrendously slow and the Ovi software that came with the phone was flaky and kept freezing.
    - The menu system was hideously complicated to navigate (though this could have been due to the phone having had the Orange treatment), which made trying to solve all of the above problems tedious.

All in all I found it entirely unintuitive. I spent more time in the settings menu than I did on the phone's front screen!

The GPS was good though, and got a fix of my position indoors, which I was impressed by. Unfortunately this was let down by the nasty Nokia maps (downloading google maps solved this slightly). The battery life also seemed pretty good, and the screen, as mentioned above, is very bright and pretty. The FM transmitter was a neat touch too - shame it's such a pain in the scrotum to get any music onto the phone in the first place!

Having said all that, I haven't used an N95 (and never will if the N85 is supposed to be an improvement on it!), so it's difficult for me to say whether the N85 is better than the N95...

I'd consider it to be 'better' than the N95 (and N96 for that matter) in pretty much every respect.

What problems have you had with the N95?

As usual with Nokia, early N85 firmware versions had some annoying bugs, but most seem to be ironed out now.

I still get random soft resets, but I got this with the N95 as well.

basically my phone presses random buttons by itsself. lol, so i have had to send it back twice, also the n85 is a more compact device, so its easier in my pocket (hopefully)

still unsure what to do, whether to keep my n95 or to swap it
