cant get 1mb broadband

i applied for the euro1net 1mb offer for £10 a month.. found out that that i can only get 512mb in my area.. really annoyed with that.

considering £10 a month is cheapish for broadband, should i carry on with the application?? we dont have any internet service at our property yet, but really really need it.. what should i do???

What are you going to be using the internet for? Jsut suring and emails, 512 is fine.

If you need more then see if there is a cable operator in your area.

It might be worth asking for a "Swish" test (at least I think it's called that).

BT said a similar thing about my exchange - I could only get 1mb, when I wanted 2mb.

Their site said 1mb, as did their sales people.

I requested that they check the line again, and eventually I got my ISP to do it, because BT wern't playing ball, and sure enough, BT's records were wrong (not that they'd admit that, even now).

The thing is, I ran the campaign to get our exchange converted and was the very first person on our exchange to be 'ADSL'ed up! And so I had an engineer come to my house - while there he did a Swish test and said the line would easily support 2mb.

Both my neighbours had 2mb lines when I put the application in to upgrade from 512 - so I knew we were within the distance - plus, I found an old BT number used for testing the distance from the exchange as per the wire.

no, i'm not in a cable area so broadband it is..

euro1net says bt notified them that we can only get 512mb. but a bt engineer hasnt even visited us yet (plus i paid extra for connection). does it mean they havent done anything to maximise the speed?
