We had to go in and show birth certificate, passport, bank statement, I don't have my birth cretificate so they just said to take my medical card and it was fine. I just rang up the NHS trust and it was here in two days. We got interviewed seperately and then brought back in together it was funny, kinda like Mr and Mrs lol!! What happens next though we did ours ages ago, do we have to pick up the licence or do they bring it to the venue? xxMarried the most amazing man 05/12/09 and it was the best day ever, I'm a Mrs, he he!!:jWins 2009: Peroni Alessi bowl woohoo, 1 in 10 wins DVD from Maltesers, Avon lippy!!!Freebies-Bold Gel, CoffeePinecone Research - £9Mystery Shopping - £150

I think (and please don't quote me! lol!) If you are having a religious ceremony then you are responsible for collecting the licence and taking it to your venue but if it's a civil ceremony then the registrar brings it?0

Certainly the case in Scotland, we had to do that for our humanist ceremony (considered religious under law).
Registering was also a dead simple process for us, filled forms in at home, took stuff in, all ok! I was amused that they seem to need detail for your job title. I filled in 'information officer' which was changed to 'information officer for a charitable organisation' as the original one didn't seem to be enough!Got married 23rd May 2009, many thanks to all on the Weddings and Anniversaries board for their help and support!

When you go to book the registrar (a year before) just to say you want the registrar on that day, do I need to take anything?Green and White Barmy Army!0

I only have a shortened birth certificate (not the full one) which caused some problems but because I was born prior to some cut-off date they agreed to take it. Got asked some questions about oh like his occupation and DOB which caused amusement as I can never remember the year he was born in and the registrar was raising eyebrows at me so I replied that I bet he couldn't always remember his wife's exact DOB! Then had to go back after 14 days to collect the docs and take them to the registry office we're getting married in.Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0
