clamped while in car

i was wondering if anyone has advice on appealing a clamping
basically i went into a private block of flats next to a pub to reverse my car around. as i was reversing i stopped to check my phone. after a minute or so a women came up to me saying i couldnt park there, i explained that i was simply reversing to get out. at the same time a guy came from round the back and clamped my car
throughout the whole period i didnt not get out of the car and didnt turn the engine off so i was not "parked". they immeaditly demanded £150 to release the clamp or it would be towed. i had no choice but to pay up. i was given a receipt with the name of the company Front Line Services Ltd for appeal.
my question is is this worth pursuing and is it legal for them to clamp a car reversing?
Btw on the ticket they crossed out the box for parking and put waiting as the reason for the fine.
Thanks

Have a go at "doing" them back. In fact get a clamp and hide until they turn up in their motor and do the same to them . It does work... Ive done it!:D0

I would of called a couple of mates and told them to bring some bolt cutters with them.

i would have called the police and told them i was being threatned and then if it was legal would have paid upThose we love don't go away,They walk beside us every day,Unseen, unheard, but always near,
Still loved, still missed and very dear

While the woman was talking to her, telling her she couldn't park there, a man clamped her wheel from the back. I don't think she had a chance to.0 -
Sorry but doesnt add up.
Checking a phone should take seconds and seems a strange thing to do in the middle of a manouvre
Also doubt some could clamp a car that quickly or silently.0
