    I've been Money Tipped!
I do not tip the drivers.

However the service I get from Sainsbury is very good indeed so I am always polite and friendly and where I sign to receive delivery I note that I am very happy with the service. Because I am - they are lovely.

This may help the drivers when it comes to their annual review etc.

no your not the only one who does tip.

i tip people who deliver stuff to me, especially if like the supermarket deliveries they have lugged bags of shopping up stairs etc.
As a few people have said they order tins and other heavy or bulky stuff to be delivered, is this so they don't have to lug them in their houses themselves, if so i think the delivery people deserve a tip!

my oh works for ocado and they too are advised not to accept tips,
but as someone has already said some people are offended if you don't accept their tip.
a tip is never expected, but alway appreciated!

restaurant waiters/waitress i think almost expect a tip because they have provided a 'service', well so do the delivery drivers!!

if we had 1 regular postie i would tip them at christmas, but almost every day its someone different !!

No you are not - I always tip my Asda delivery driver £5

I tend to order delivery once or twice per month - saves me a lot of time and effort to have bulky items delivered. I live in London but have no supermarket near by, I do not drive and there is no way I am going to carry massive shopping on busses in rush hour or waste time going for smaller shopping few times per week after work.

And seeing the poor guys/guys carrying my bags (up to £150 worth of shopping) up the stairs (first floor) I have no heart not to tip.

But now I wonder if £5 is maybe a bit much?

    Good thread anyway....

So, unless you get free delivery, you are actually paying between £8 - £10 for us to deliver!

I certainly wouldn't accept a £5 tip for the reasons I said earlier, 'a test'. We already are 'tested' as customers are randomly contacted by Home Shopping managers and asked questions like 'Did the driver bring the chilled & frozen items first?'

There is absolutely no reason for anyone to tip us but I might still accept a tip from a very regular customer explaining that I might get into trouble if I accept it... they usually say 'I won't tell if you don't'. It's still a risk to our jobs if we are found out.
