Hi,
I believe ASDA has a policy that if you don't like the quality of the fruit and veg once you have unpacked they will refund double the money (and you get to keep the veg). I have only used this once but that was because they failed to put ANY veg in the order - they weren't too happy but did agree (I definately didn't like the quality and they have not missed it out since :rotfl:)
And no, don't tip the driver.

I have Tesco deliver my shopping and on the whole I am quite pleased with what they pick. The thing I buy very little of online is meat. With the exception of fairly standard things like mince and chicken I like to pick my own.
On the occasions that I have had poor quality fruit (I had a punnet of nectarines that were so mouldy I could smell them from three foot away once) I complain and get my money back.
I have read varying different discussions like this on other forums and it seems to vary depending on where you live and how good the local stores are. Where I live I wouldn't touch Asda's delivery with a barge pole but in other areas it seems to be better than Tesco's.
I don't tip the drivers. I pay a delivery charge and don't expect to pay again.0 -
Actually Any, Ocado is the only one I haven't tried, simply because they do not deliver to my area.
I have tried Tesco, Saisbury's, Asda and Iceland but unfortunately Iceland do not do online shopping any more, which is a shame as they were the best of the four! I don't think any of the supermarkets take particular care when picking and bagging your goods, it really can be a frustrating business, items get squashed or are going off and the substitutions defy belief! That is not to say that I have not had any orders delivered which went well, I have had a few with relatively no problems, but don't rely on it, often we have to go to the sypermarket after delivery anyway to get the items that were unavailable/badly substituted/damaged.

I have used Sainsburys, Tesco, Asda, Ocado and Waitrose.
Ocado tend to be the best especially as they do hourly slots, bring your shopping in and text you before to say if any items are missing, although they are a little bit more expensive.
Have just tried Waitrose as they sent me money off vouchers for the first 3 shops and their are deliveries are free!, which makes up slighlty for being more expensive.
On the odd occassion that any of my fresh items are not so fresh, I have always received a no quibble refund after contacting customer services.
I have also never tipped a driver.:hello:0 -
I always use Ocado - they are more expensive but I like there food and I like the way it's delivered as Im a real foody person I prefer to pay more for cooking my meals than going out. I have ever had 1 problem with there dates and that was sorted for me within 24 hours.
I have friends that use tesco and have heard that they never get everything on their list which to me would be annoying when I have a meal planned.
Hope this helps

It is very unlikely that your picker will also be your delivery driver they tend to be very different jobs the driver will be doing deliveries for the whole of their shift and the picker will be picking for the whole of their shift. The routes are likely to be computerised so that they go from one to another in the (hopefully) logical order given within each time slot and what time they get to you depends on where you live in relation to the other orders and the store and the traffic and other conditions.
Thanks, but I know that.
Let me put it this way: I wish you could tip the picker as you woudn't worry about the veg they pick for you as much...0 -
I think I will have to try them out once and see which supermarket delivery in my area is of better quality..
I think it very much depends on the nature of the person who is picking the stuff for you... Whether they actually give a damn or not.
Thank you all for your replies.0 -
I am a delivery driver for tesco and we are told not to accept tips, but when a little old lady or disabled person who you have helped take all their shopping to the kitchen offers you £1-£2 it's hard to refuse. I get given a tip about once or twice a week but I'm told it more at christmas time ( only been there 3 months )
you should always get your shopping in the deliver slot unless there is a problem with the vans or a late pick. We are given a list of customers about 12 per van and it works out what order we deliver them in and the time we should be at the customers0 -

I am a delivery driver for ASDA and I echo manumadmel. We are not supposed to accept tips and I am very careful not to accept them from new customers or someone I personally haven't been to before as it could be a 'test'! It is very hard to refuse a tip because, of course we would love a couple of pounds in our pocket but also refusing a tip offends the person who is offering it.
So, I would only accept a tip from a very regular customer that I (hopefully) know hasn't been asked to 'test us'! Incedently, the first manager on my department, when giving us the rules on not accepting tips, said 'what we don't know you can't get into trouble over'!!
Just to add... we do get paid to deliver this service to your door although I'd get the same amount per hour as a checkout operator, a shelf stacker, the 'greeter' as well as the trolly guys.... and sometimes I'd rather be a trolly guy... at least we'd get a tea-break!DEBT FREE BY 60Starting Debt 21st August 2019 = £11,024
