Unemployment Making Me Utterly MISERABLE!

 Congrats blueye!! Well done you! And fantastic that you haven't had to wait too long before hearing about it.
 Congrats lufcgirl as well!! This networking malarky is worth it's weight in benefit forms. Now all you need is to let everyone know you're in the mobile market and ask them to consider your new role when they are looking around. Doesn't commit them to anything but will show up on your sales figures at your new company. :T
RR: IMHO I would definitely put the name of the employer down plus the time that you spent with them to make sure that you don't have a gap. You don't have to put down why you left them, leave that until the interview. And when you are asked the question be honest and say that they appointed you before the role was ratified and that it turned out they didn't have the authority or budget to do so. Make it sound like both you and them were upset about the situation but that you completely understood. And confirm that you wouldn't have gone back to your old role as you need to move on...
Does that help? There's always a way of making things sound better than they are without lying or misleading. You're an honest person so show that to a prospective interviewer instead. If it's that small a place, this information won't be new to them anyway and you'll have earnt brownie points for being honest.
Finally, I completely understand your feelings about being let down but I can tell you that politicians are all THE SAME. Doesn't matter what colour badge they have, none of them have a clue about what it actually feels like. I could blame the Govt but I choose not to as it means that I give up responsibility for my own life. I've been through the last two down turns so I know it's not quite so simple and we will all get through this I promise.
Right, I'm off to make dinner for the family and enjoy the chance to be housewife while I can.
Toodles,
Sackcloth.
PS. I'm not standing as PM or MP as they've recently changed the expenses criteria... lol!!! :rotfl:Passing it on 24/7... while wearing stylish and confidence building heels!

Hi, I hope noone minds me joining in as I'm sort of in the same position, except I wasn't made redundant as I've never worked before.
I have never had a job but have just completed a course to become an accounts assistant after two horrible years of nothing (which I;d rather forget!) and now I am about to start applying to jobs.
I'm just wondering if someone would have a look at my CV and let me know if I'm along the right lines before I start applying? I am terrified to be honest. I have no experience, just a lot of education... most of which is totally irrelevant. ARGH0 -
i'm joining in here, as i'm in the same position. it's soul destroying not even getting interviews for all the jobs i'm applying forIt will be mine in 2009: 1. MacBook, 2. Spa session, 3. Money/vouchers
Freebies this week - computer software, nivea for me AND him, and about a million sims0 -
Don’t get disheartened. When i was on the dole (or Rock’n’ Roll as i called it:p) i was lucky to get a !!!!!!! letter saying I’d been unsuccessful! You just have to keep the (totally) blind faith and apply for everything out there. It will come!0

Hi injaa, good on you for completing the course, which sounds very practical. I am sure it will stand you in good stead.
Lots of good news on this thread today. Congratulations on anyone who has got an interview or a job. It's nice to hear that there are still jobs out there and that Money Saving Experts are getting them.
rosered1963, if I can put my professional hat on, (puts on her lollypop outfit). I think you are being very hard on yourself. You sound like you have had a huge amount of stress over the last couple of years, but you have always behaved honourably. You could easily have been suffering from a kind of burn out. One person can only cope with so much, before the brain needs a good rest.
Baby steps are called for, which you know you can achieve, and give yourself a big pat on the back and a reward when you achieve them. Build on this foundation. If you aim too high too quickly, you could get discouraged.
And as for PM - I'd think i'd rather be Deputy PM to the singer below in his hay day.

Hi Sackcloth. You mentioned in a previous post that you thought it would be polite to start another thread, rather than hijacking one of Truego's.
I was thinking you could set one up along the lines of "Meeting the Challenge of Unemployment" - but I am sure that some of the creative types can come up with something more eye catching and punchy! She throws down the gauntlet ....I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear.0
