Hi there! This is the Daily Thread for 4th June. This is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly, but if not, it's not a problem.
Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Daily Threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good!
Morning. Another nice sunny day here. Just right for the start of the Royal Cornwall show. Not sure which royal is coming this year.
We may go on saturday if the rains hold off.
Fishing was great, I came 4th out of 22, so got a prize and entry into the 4 man team for the national event next year.... Cant't grumble.
It was really hot and the sea fairly flat. We all caught some nice fish and everythign went well, which as the organiser I could not have asked for better.
N9eav - those bees look pretty scary to me  Honestly, they are at their most docile state, you could approach them and touch them.....
Chores and then back to work today after a 5 day break.... Seems like for ever.... BBQ for tea again, not sure what yet, somthing meaty no doubt.
Have a good day.... cheers

Morning everyone - hope you're all well?
Been busy the last couple of days, so not had a chance to post
Heading off to the mainland today for a long weekend away. It's a mad dash to various places and getting the chance to catch up with friends and family. Hoping to do some retail therapy too - got a wedding in August I need an outfit for. As well as seeing what's in some of the larger supermarkets that I don't get the chance to go to here. So, won't be posting again til next Tuesday.
Already got a load of washing on the line and hoping that will be nearly dry by the time we have to leave. Another load in the machine too
It's a nice day here just now, so should be a good ferry crossing which is always a bonus!
Have a lovely weekend everyone and look forward to catching up when I get back.
Take care0 -
Morning all.
Dd back to school today as they had teacher training
days tagged on to the end of the holiday. Plenty of
washing to sort out. Ds3 got another English GCSE this
morning.
Tea today will be the meat and potato pies that were
made yesterday0 -
Morning everyone.
Lovely and sunny here this morning. Not sure how long it will last for.
Got to pop to post office and pick up a mystery parcel for H. It wouldn't fit through letter box but neither of us have orderded anything so not sure what it is.
Must crack on with some housework today too. Haven't done much past couple of days as have been out and about.
Tea tonight is a make shift (sorry family term - means something on toast, make it yourself sort of thing) as I have swimming tonight instead of badminton (shut due to being used as polling station).
Might head off to vote this morning before getting stuck into my jobs.
Had a call yesterday about a potential client for childminding. Only for 8 hours a week but it's a start! She's coming to see me on Friday night so wish me luck!
Off to hang the washing out now. I wish I could put my WM on so early. Mines as noisy as a jet engine I can't wake everyone with that at this time in the morning!!!
Have a good day all, OS or not.
PS. N9eav well done on coming 4th!!I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knifeLouise Brooks
All will be well in the end. If it's not well, it's not the end.Be humble for you are made of earth. Be noble for you are made of stars0 -
Morning all,
Another scorcher here by the look of it :T, off to work today, I did a wash last night which is on the line already, should dry easily today.
I felt really rough last night, and ended up going to bed at 9, I was asleep by 9.30 and slept right through till 6 this morning, and feel sooo much better for it :T.

Morning everyone,
Bitsy good luck with your potential new client, fingers crossed. Enjoy your weekend Nessie sounds like you will have a good time.
I could barely sleep last night with excitement, going to the airport to pick up my OH. Haven't seen him since March. I can't wait. Going to rush round the house and make it sparkly.:j:j:j0 -
Good morning all
Well, the sun is shining at the moment so a good start to the day anyway. This weather has really helped the veggies over the last few days so feeling more hopeful about a decent crop from some of them. I found some pea pods yesterday and 2 gooseberries:j. Well, it's a start even if a small one:p
Owl - welcome to the thread :hello:
FairyElephant - good luck for the scan. I hope you manage to sort something out for your Mum & Dad, it sounds like respite may be a good idea but please don't feel guilty about it. You have all coped so well.
Tired mum - hope the interview is successful.
NPM - hope the GP can help with the headaches
N9eav - well done with the fishing - fantastic result:j
Am more organised today - already have the sausages out of the freezer for tea tonight and the WM on. Off to work now.
Have a good day everyone

Morning All
Just a quickie, already up and showered, going to vote before setting off for another long weekend in the 'van. Forecast not brilliant, but one can always hope, so have packed for all seasons - everything from thermals to shorts. Will be back for the Apprentice Final.
OS this weekend will be living via the battery, and cooking on the BBQ, not forgetting an odd glass or two of vino, plenty of fresh air and walking. Going near Beverley so may get a look around the Minster.

Morning peeps
nice and bright and sunny here at the moment and my washing is out on the line, there are some dark clouds but not too close so hopefully they will stay away.
Bitsy beans - Good luck!
N9eav - 4th is really good, bet you`re well chuffed
Owl - In case you didn`t read after i`d edited my post last night - welcome to the daily!
Nessie / Donny gal - Have a great weekend
I have a big pile of folded washing to go put away and then i shall have an hour in the garden before walking the houndies, then i need to vote and when i get back i have some plants to put in the front garden. I`m quite pleased really as i`ve grown lots of flowering plants from seed and got lots more from the freebies low spend board where usually only p&p applies.
Hopefully i shall get in a bit of cleaning before w*rk and all will be well
Tea tonight is a huge smoked peppered mackrel salad and a big slice of the lemon drizzle cake that i made yesterday
Dinner is some of the sandwich spread from yesterday and i`ll probably skip breakfast. When i`m working late shift i`m always starving later so i shall have something then:D
Have a lovely day everyone.
Catch up later.
SDPlanning on starting the GC again soon0 -

Sorry, but I have to ask.....did you show them your tackle:D;):rotfl:
Morning Guys!
Had a bad night, but am resting up today and at home all day, so it should work out okay.
A new cleaner started this morning and she was here at 7.45am:eek::eek::eek:...well at least it will be done earlier and we are always up anyway.
Nurse due any minute with a nice jab for me! My INR has been playing up, but its because of the new meds. I am going back in hopsital in 2 weeks for about a week as my weight has dropped again.
Must do some of my essay today. Even if I can get some structure to it, that would be great.
WM is on ATM and will be hung outside by DH. DW will be going on later when the gas man comes and fixes our fire and we have some hot water. Probably another load will go on after this one has finished.
The mealplan has wobbled a bit this week but we havent bought any take-aways, just had something different.
Anyway, hope everyone is well.
