Hello i'm thinking about changing internet provider, I am currently with Tiscali and my connection keeps cutting out intermittently for no apparent reason. I phoned them up and they blamed my router offering me a new one if I sign in to a new contract with them, the problem being I will be getting an apple mac computer soon and their wireless router is not compatabile.
As I am in an area that cant get the really cheap deals Plusnet for £11.99 a month or Virgin for £15 a month seem to be the best
To cut a long story short I am wondering is anyone with Plusnet or virgin and how do you find them????
thankyou

ADSL routers will work perfectly well on a Mac, as well as on Windows. What you may find is that Tiscali won't support anyone connecting on a Mac. Given how woeful Tiscali's tech support is anyway, this is really not an issue. At some future point Tiscali will integate their support with TalkTalk, who do support Macs.No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
Companies advertising in their avatars and using the forum simply to tout for customers is against the rules, as is using the pm system to get customers.0

We recently did a marketing exercise aimed at Tiscali customers where we were offering three months free.
If you decide on plusnet, ignore this marketing "exercise" that plusnet have come here breaking the rules to promote. There is a moneysaving way to do it:
3 free months is worth just £18 (everyone joining plusnet gets the first 3 months for £5.99), but if you sign up to plusnet via quidco they are currently paying £40 cashback.0 -
thankyou macman thats useful information as it would save me changing email address. Well said Quentin, gosh £40 cashback is a much better deal0

Hi, kittenki, all goes well on your side of the cable/wireless, I hope.
My vote would have to be for Virgin. I've been with them for 4+ years and am very happy with the service ... and not just because when I mentioned I 'might' be moving to Sky, they knocked £20 a month off my TV/Internet/Phone package.
I will also mention that around abouts two weeks ago my brother-in-law bought his first PC and was also seeking an Internet provider. I phoned to enquire about him getting the Virgin £15 a month and they offered a £30 account credit to myself as an RAF (Refer A Friend) and his connection charge (£30) refunded, if he signed.
Perhaps ... maybe ... if you know anyone with Virgin ...
Best of luck with your decision.0 -
If you are on a market 3 exchange, you can get plusnet value for £5.99 a month. Don't foget the quidco cashback either. You can check your telephone exchange at...

Another thing to watch out for. Are you getting your broadband from Tiscali via thier LLU service? If you are, you may get charged a fee to move you back to BT.0
