Does anyone know for sure if the apple education discount is bigger from on campus than through their usual site?

My sister is loathe to go back on campus since shes just finished exams, unless the discount is definitely bigger... :S

The Discount is much better than what it shows when you do it from home.

14% is what I got off. You could always ring them up, tell them what education your in/place and they will tell you how much discount you can get.

If you have a Apple store nearby you can get it from there as well.

    For Example

    Normal White Macbook £749.00
    With Online Discount £703.80
    Campus Discount at 14% £644.14

You save over £100 on normal price and almost £60 over online discount.

Also Apple Care is only around £49 with Campus discount... Normally £195 or £162 with normal online discount.

They are also doing a back to school rebate offer on the ipod touch. I think you get a £145 rebate on it..

    thanks!

Also, anyone on campus at the moment, is it 14% for everything? my sister is interested in the white macbook, and im interested in the mid range macbook pro...that would go from
    £1712 normal to
    £1575 (8% avail online) to
    £1472 (14% potentially avail on campus) - a £100 difference!

Its not 14% for everything it varies between 10-15% depending on what your buying. I'm able to access the HE site from home by connecting to uni network and the price for mid macbook pro is £1,454.75. Plus don't forget you can get a rebate of £145 on an iPod Touch which you could then sell and take more money off the price.

The apple care gives you 3 years warranty and telephone support. For extending a warranty by an extra 2 years I think it is worth it and if you sell your laptop in 2.5 years time then you should get your money back on it as it is transferable.

I bought a Macbook with the illuminated keyboard a few weeks ago and used my sons Uni card an got 14% off the price at the Apple store they also had an offer of a £60 rebate on printers so I gave my son the printer which in the end cost me £9.95

All of the above, plus there's a £60 rebate on printers, plus there's 0% finance available for anything over £500. Prices haven't come down, but there are offers out there. World Wide Developer's Conference is on from 8-12 June, so defo wait until after that, you could have a higher spec computer for the same price just for waiting a few days...

yeah ive been simply dying, ever since I decided that I was going to replace my (very) old Tibook, I've been itching to get one - but I am holding out til next week.

Many (on the macrumors forum) think there wont be any updates, but fingers crossed! Either way it'll be a relief to buy it :D

So go ahead and buy that computer then, if you're doing it from the Apple Store online.
All the 13" metal MacBooks are now called MacBook Pros, have been sped up, added Firewire 800 and an SD slot, improved screen and backlit keyboard, non-removeable, longer lasting battery and the cheapest is now £899, down £30 I think. The white plastic MacBook remains.
The 15" MacBook Pros have had a speed up, added an SD slot removed ExpressCard slot, improved screen, non-removeable, longer lasting battery, and the 17" and the MacBook Air have both had speed ups I think.
Still available offers of £60 rebate on a printer, 0% finance, and for students up to £145 off an iPod. Use quidco online too for 4% (I think) off...
Sorry, forgot to say that you might want to leave it a few days if you're gonna buy on the high street to make sure they have stock.

What do you mean get your money back on it?

I was on this as soon as the online store came back up yesterday, thank god I waited!! :j:j cheaper, and better specs all round.. :D I called up and was able to order the 2.8 15" for £1444 (15% student discount) on the phone - as long as you send them an email from your uni email to prove you are a student. I also ordered the applecare at £57, iWork at £34, ipod and printer.. After rebates and selling off the printer and ipod, total will come to around £1385 or so for my laptop :D

I don't think you can get the quidco cashback if you are ordering at education prices though

    Will arrive on Thursday/Fri...
