Next question is whether waiting until January for sales is worth it? Do these even exist in the computer hardware market?0

Using the beta 7100 for a couple of days must say the pc is very smoother and faster to boot than both 32/64bit versions of Vista
Looking forward to getting the final build0 -

For hardware bought from major retailers (eg. Currys, PC World etc.) yes you will get January sales, however these retailers charge a lot more than if you just bought it online in the first place.
Besides, if your current PC can run Vista, it can run Win7, so may as well just buy the software alone.0 -
this may seem a daft question but if u have got the evaluation copy do you get a discount if you want to buy itsealed pot challange 5 member 1478 £0/£200

The cheapest places I've found seem to be dell.co.uk, dmxdimension.co.uk or maybe ebuyer.co.uk.
I've got a AMD Turion 64 ML-34 with a clonky 1GD PC2700 DDR RAM.
I'm currently running Exchange 2007 in a VM and it's flatlining the CPU chronic. Time for an upgrade...

Nope, you do get to format and reinstall though, as the evaluation copy cannot be upgraded to the release version. Only XP and Vista can be upgraded.0 -

Yeah, its a bit daft. I've just done a new build and used Windows 7. Around Xmas my 'evaluation' will be which is cheaper - a flash new mobo, 2 gig stick of ram and OEM vista 64, or windows 7 retail and no hardware upgrade. Probably would have just done the latter if they'd have allowed me to keep it running, and I have a sneaky suspicion there will be a big lag between retail and OEM copies of 7 being easily available.0
