    Plus, of course, cheques have your signature on them!

    It still amazes me that people still can't seem to understand that bank transfer is one of the safest forms of payment, after cash.

    Yes of course, but the OP is talking about accepting payment here, not making payment.

    The seller doesn't need to give out their bank details - it's unneccessary in my view..

    Just my opinion though.

    I would swap a dozen paypal buyers for one that wanted to use bank transfer instead any day.

    Paypal, I pay fees, the payment can be reversed and whilst I would be protected I involve myself in a lot of hassle, have my payments held, have to phone paypal at 10p a minute (whatever) to resolve it if I do come across a dodgy buyer.

    Bank transfer, give out my details get payment, no fees and no way at all payment can ever be recalled.
