If in doubt why not e-mail both Ebay and Paypal expressing your concerns? Advise them you believe this could potentially be a issue of fraud, might get them shifting their bum on it?

Was the sale really to a buyer with negative feedback or merely to a new member (beginning ky...) with zero feedback? If it's the latter I can't see a problem; they're behaving exactly as I'd hope and expect.
    Can I help?

yes it was by a new buyer starting with ky!! is this what scammers normally go by and have you been checking it out? they have just sent me a very abrupt email asking for my telephone number. think i will refund them the money rather than risk losing my money and the item.

    UPDATE!

I have tried to refund the 'buyer' but when i pick their username from the list of buyers it is saying that the user does not appear to have made a payment to me! Does this have anything to do with their email not existing and how do i refund if paypal wont let me? I have emailed them through ebay asking for a legit. email if they want a refund but am still waiting for a reply.

Whatever happens do not refund any way other than by returning the original payment, if you send a new payment then the buyer can chargeback for th eoriginal amount.

Log into the actual transaction in your paypal account and near the bottom of the transaction there should be a refund button. If that doesn't work, just sit tight and wait for the buyer to contact you.

    just wait,

some time, maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, paypal WILL reverse the transaction
    just sit on the dosh

also, contact your local newspaper to say you've been scammed, gloss it up a bit,
the more people out there that 'think' before committing to an expensive paypal transaction, the better
    money saving my @rse.
I've spent 10x as much as I would if I had never discovered this website :-)

Chill, chill, chill ... don't rush into things as you're in the best position.

For one, you're not out of pocket or will never be as long as you've still got the item. At the moment it's the buyers issue. Don't do any kind of refund or anything at the moment.
Send an e-mail to eBay and Paypal explaining the situation and ask them for advice. Then just wait until they respond. No rush as you have the item.

You also seem to have a payment from what I've read. Is this sitting in your Paypal account or has it been transferred to your current (linked to paypal) account? Obviously, if you've got the money, then don't spend it as at some point you might have to refund it. But in the mean time, enjoy claiming some interest from it.

If the person buying is contacting you now then just explain to them that you're unsure about the transaction at the moment and are doing some checks. Tell them that you've check the address they gave and it doesn't exist ... as you wanted to ensure there were no issues with postage. Also say that you've tried to contact them via eBay but their account seems to have been suspended / cancelled. Just ask them what the situation is. Simply say to them that with all the scamming going on you've got to be sure this is a legitimate transaction, especially with the address and communication issue you've had. If they are genuine then they will understand, if not, then be even more weary.

Just do not send anything and let eBay and Paypal sort things out. Remember, you don't know this person, you owe them nothing. They might be trying to scam you in which case, stuff-em ... or ... it might be a newbie struggling ... in which case, if you've explained the situation and are asking for assistance from eBay and Paypal, then they will understand.

Remember, remember, remember ... you still have the item so there's no need to rush.

Final thing ... chill some more ... :-))
Life's too short to grow up ... :j
