have you checked the plug? might be a wire loose or the fuse0

this is not helpful really but.....bin it.
they clean well but are the most unreliable uprights on the market.
you can get a bosch for around £99 that does nearly as good a job according to 'which'.0 -
Dysons have a safety cut out for when the unit overheats. If you leave it for a while it might be fine once its cooled down a bit. Often happens to me when hoovering the stairs.0

my friend recently had same problem with her dyson which had worked for years without any problems. she checked plug and socket but both fine. let it cooled down- still didn't work. she took it to hoover shop and it cost about £22 to repair. the man in hoover shop said dysons have problem with electrical connection where wire touches hoover (not plug end). basically they had to put new lead/plug on it. they had to use a grey rather purple lead because dyson don't make any purple leads anymore. the length of new lead is alot longer than purple one. the man in shop wouldn't come out because it not worth his while.0

The one at work had a broken wire in the flex - so a new flex sorted it out - it does get pulled about.
Dyson site have also a questions and answers part for problemsSaving in my terramundi pot £2, £1 and 50p just for me! :j0 -
Had the same problem with No 1 daughters on two occasions. She seems to think that because the cable is is flexible it will stretch.I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.0

We had the same problem, and the cause was overheating due to a blocked hose. Quite a job to clear it out, and eventually found a 10p coin stuck in it, plus a lot of fluff.0

I have read this too, but can't really afford a replacement just now.0 -
I can't get into the plug - it seems to be a sealed unit?0

It could be a break in the wire where the flex goes into the Dyson. This appears to be a common fault. I have had this happen twice. The first time I took it in to be repaired (quite expensive), the second time I shortened the flex myself and rewired it (very cheap). I broke the switch while doing this but got a replacement quite cheaply off ebay. I got my electrician brother to check it and it worked fine0
