repainting gloss?

    you can paint straight over gloss with satinwood as it's oil based and doesn't need a primer/undercoat. you can sand it if it needs to be sanded but if it's smooth i wouldn't bother. i prefer the look of gloss but prefer the finish of satin wood.

    thats definately an mdf door, i had same prob with an mdf radiator cover and it does look like cardboard, just sand it with very fine paper wouldn't hurt to give that section 2 coats as it will soak up the paint with first coat. i swear by dulux trade paint, you can't beat it.

    You can paint over gloss with satinwood, as its self undercoating, but you need to sand down the gloss to get a key.
    if your going to paint the next day also, then you can get away with putting the brush in a couple of carrier bags, and tie, so no air gets at the brush.
    this will be okay for a day or two.
