dla phone call

Dla phone on saterday morning to ask what sort of help I need at night, was taken completly by suprise and stumbled over the answer, when I tried to call them back to answer properly I could not get through as it was saterday. Why do they give you weeks to fill the form in and then call out of the blue and give you seconds. So am worried sick now.

Does seem very unfair that they caught you offguard, best phone dla on monday and tell them that you was very flustered and didnt hear properly what they said to you, I doubt they could drop your claim unless you had a face to face interivew where it was decided you didnt need dla

    Good luck xx

I would give them a call tomorrow and double check that the call was genuine. I didnt think that government departments worked on a Saturday?!

Tell them that you would like to verify the answers that you gave as you were not in a good state of mind when you spoke to whoever rang!

    Hi
Its probably very genuine, my hubby received a call last week from them and asked a couple of questions (more about help he needs in the home). Letter came on thursday saying he does not qualify.

Of course he will appeal, so we will just have to wait and see.

Most depts with call centres are open Saturday mornings 9-1.
I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. My views are my own reading of the law and you should always check with the local authority in question.

My friend works as a fraud investigator for the benefit agency (or whatever they are called now). I asked him about Saturday working and he said it used to be overtime but now part-timers etc jump at the chance of working saturdays as part of normal working week as there are less childcare issues.

Anyway he said the reason they ring on a saturday is that they often can't get to speak to people in the week during daytime. He also said it's to check up on the information put on the claim forms.

With my illness I can have times where I can answer the phone and have a conversation and then not remember what I have talked to the person about - or even sometimes not even remember answering the phone! - this caused a bit of an argument once when my parents rang to ask me to put the oven on when they were an hour from home and tea would take an hour - I swore blind they hadnt rung - they had proof on their mobile and on our caller display home phone which showed I had picked the phone up!

Its upto you whether or not you ring them tomorrow - if you thing that you have given them enough information relevant to your condition then dont ring them - but if you havent then do. Maybe you should wait and see what happens. If you do get your DLA denied then make sure you get help from your local Citizens Advice Bureau or Welfare Rights Service.

Just a quick note. Anyone who suffers from chronic pain can find they're short-term memory affected. My pain management consultant told me all about how the brain processed information and sometimes pain messages take priority over other things. Any decent worker working within the field of disability should know this fact because my consultant has told me it is very very common for chronic pain sufferers to have memory problems.
