I hear what you are saying so I'm off to weigh it now. I will let you know.

I only agreed to purchase the 700 because they told me that there was no such thing as a 702. One great big massive fib. Regardless of the fact the two are the same, they still told a big one. I'm suprised that anyone will pay the extra on an updated version if there was no obvious difference.

    Strange to say the least.

    yes it was a fib

a rather stupid one but you cant do anything but make a complaint telling them to sort them selves out

as for refunds etc your stuck with what you have.

and i wouldnt bother weighing it

i did think the weight you stated was rather heavy for a netbook

my big 16.5" media centre laptop with loads of stuff is about the same

like saying a fiesta weighs like a articulated truck

    o well

you just have to live with it

maybe call hp asking what the difference is (as i said probs the bios) if it is then update it
    Back by no demand whatsoever.

by the way, if it is the bios it wouldnt make a difference to your claim as pc world never mention the bios so they couldnt possibly mis-sell it to you

i doubt most of them know of such thing

They certainly told you a fib (or more likely they had no idea and made it up on the spot) about the 702, but I can't see that they misrepresented anything about the 700-which is the relevant point, as that's what you bought. They might have told you another fib and said that Santa Claus was real, but that wouldn't count as misrepresentation either.
You saw the 700 and got what you paid for, having had the opportunity to check the specs at the time of purchase. The specs are seemingly identical as far as anyone can establish, and the weight is the same.
If they agreed to swap this for a 702, what would you have gained?
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

PC World don't stock the 702 that I can see. Hence, there is a 702, but not that they sell.

If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.

They're the same machine. The Compaq Mini 700 series comprises just two models here in the UK, one of which you'll probably never see in the likes of PC World anyway.

From my post in the other thread...

PC World staff aren't on commission (or at least not anything that miselling a different model laptop would benefit them by).

Most likely the 700 vs 702 is a DSGi specific model to quash pricematches - another example is the Samsung UE40B7000 vs UE40B7020 - one has a silver rim and one doesn't, but they are different so you won't be able to pricematch, plus the UE40B7000 is also exclusive to DSGi...

Never really seen the attraction of the Compaq Mini 70x and the HP Mini-note 2133 - for the price the Advent 4211C (MSI Wind u100 rebrand) would be better imo.
Nothing I say represents any past, present or future employer.

I don't think you are stuck with this although you have an evidential issue.

The sales staff made representations to you which induced you to enter into the purchase. Those representations were wrong - and probably negligently so. In law, this is called a negligent misrepresentation entitling you to have the contract set aside.
