Can i get out of my contract??????/
I am with 3,and have been pretty happy with them,no major problems etc.
I recently lost my phone and went inot my local 3 shop and asked what they could do.They said I was due an upgrade,and as such it would be my replacement phone,I explained that I needed to be able to access my hotmail and aol accounts for work,and this was of major importance,also said I was thinking of going for an i phone.After speaking to the assistant I ended up staying with 3,got an lg viewty,and stayed on the same tariff.
About a week ago I tried to get into both my email accounts,and couldnt,apparently my phone is not compatable????I rang 3,and after some discussion was told to change my email accounts!!!!!I said I wasn't happy,and wanted to get my pac number to move networks,and was told that I entered a new 18month contract when I got the replacement phone,none of which I was ever told????
I was wondering whether I would be able to challenge this,as the advice I was given was not correct,and does not enable me to use the phone as I explained I needed to.
I'm not that bothered about keeping the number,would like to but its not life or death.
Can I get out of the contract and move networks?
I also don't just want to stop paying it as the contract is in my fathers name.

Tricky one as i do not imagine you can prove what advice you were given, how long have you had it as there should be a cooling off period usually 7 or 14 days i think0

Your chance of getting out of your contract on this basis is, to be honest, slim to none. Your alternative is to sell the Viewty and use the proceeds towards buying an off-plan handset such as the E71 which is a pretty good emailer.Starting Debt: ~£20,000 01/01/2009. DFD: 20/11/2009 :j

Fair enough,I'm thinking of lowering myself to the lowest tariff possible,and getting an iphone aswell,use the free minutes etc on the 3 contract,not the end of the world.

You may not be able until you've done a certain length of time in that Tariff. What used to happen was people signed up on an expensive tariff to get a top of the range phonem then downgrade it the next month saving initla phone outlay. The Telco's responded by puytting in minimum terms before you can downgrade.
Not 100% sure but I think you need to stay on the initial tariff for 9 monthys with three before you can downgrade at all.0 -

Hotmail can do pop3 if you pay for the service and the Viewty has a POP3 client and can do web browsing. AOL Wise it can do Imap so the phone should be able to do email. Not sure why you cannot access the email, can you tell us what errors you get?0 -
The 3 website clearly states that Email on 3 is compatible with the Viewty so I don't see what the problem is here?

when did you upgrade as if it was before april you can cancel due to 3 like home changes
