breakdown cover
my breakdown is due for renewal next month, im currently with the aa paying £160 a year which gives me everything except for european cover. its also joint cover. with them they will take the car anywhere in the uk unlimited miles but every other company ive looked at only takes your car 10 miles to a nearby garage and will take you anywhere in the uk.
can anyone suggest any other companies which offer breakdown for the people no matter what car there in, and will transport the vehicle further than 10 miles?

Mine is £40 a year taken to destination and the car taken to garage of choice.Or car and myself taken back home..And euro cover plus home start...can't recall the name of them but can look..My lass broke down once and they fetched the car back to me at home all withing 2 hrs 20 miles away from home.:) Thing is i get this via my sister in law at her works (works for insurance broker) so may be a little more.0

autoaid is great value , its £37 and covers any car you are driving
its a system where you pay for the tow service and they reinburse you , so wont suit everyone ,but also means you can choose a local garage and not have to wait for one from miles away0 -
how does autoaid work, cant quite work it out on there website?0

so if i pay £37 and breakdown in cornwall for example will they drive my car back upto london, and will i have to pay for this service etc?0

You pay the recovery operator to transport you from Cornwall to London and then you claim back the cost from Autoaid.
This works for some people. For me it's a no no. I'm going to holiday near Inverness this summer (I live in Kent) and I don't fancy forking out £800-£1000 for a tow at 2am in the morning. The man without a signature.0 -
What you are looking for is recovery service (or relay as the AA call it since they relay you on multiple transporters dropping you off at the county border leaving you to wait possibly hours for the next lorry to take you on your next 'leg' of the journey - most other companies take you non-stop on the same transporter.)
The 10 mile radius, or to the nearest garage is referred to as rescue.
I second AutoAid

who will provide what you want for £37.00 per year.
Note that AutoAid is slightly different to most others in that you pay for the service you require (repair, recovery, etc) at the time and then AutoAid refund you the cost. With AutoAid, you are free to arrange your ownrecovery service (which you can't usually do with competitors) or you can call their 24 hourhelpline and they will arrange it for you - but you still have to pay whoever helps you (although you might be able ask the garage to invoice you if you don't have enough money on you at the time of breakdown)
AutoAid also covers your spouse or legal partner."Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100 -
I would imagine that Autoaid is perfect for those who travel to work a few miles from home and only pop out once in a while. The man without a signature.0
