number porting

hi i have an orange contract, but i will be canceling that soon as my 12 months are up. However this contact is under my name but my brother uses it for his business. so my question is that can he get another contract or payg on another network and get this number transfered (although this contact was under my name), by requesting a port. is it possible & how long does it take as he cant afford to lose any business

As this contract is currently in your name, you will have to call orange CS for a PAC. This should be issued quite quickly (never done before). When your brother registers for a PAYG or signs up for a contract, tell them (the new service provider) you want to port the phone number across to that network and say you have got the PAC available. Once they enter all the details, the phone should be available with your old number to use. The time scale may vary and may take about a week? Not done before so I don't know.

Make sure that you have written and sent your notice of cancelling with Orange allowing for the minimum 30 days notice, if you have not done so already to end your contract.
