New 3 Pay as you go tariff - but will email work?

I see there's a new deal on 3 pay as you go from today. It varies by how much you top up, but if you top up by £10, you get 300 texts and 150MB of internet access (amongst other things, but no free minutes) which last 90 days.

I think this should suit me really well but I do need it to be able to access my IMAP email.

Does anyone know if 3 allows IMAP (or POP) email access on pay as you go (O2 doesn't for example but Orange does)?

There are various 3 add-ons etc but 50MB a month would be more than enough for me to download and send a few emails so I'm obviously reluctant to pay for extras.

A way round O2 problem is use gmail or now if in uk googlemail and have your POP email through that account. That works :-D

ThreePay: Customers who joined ThreePay before February 2006, will be migrated to the new 3Pay tariff.

WePay: Customers on WePay will remain on the tariff and continue to receive WePay rewards. They will also get the text and internet benefits of 3Pay every time they top up

Flat12: These customers will continue on Flat12 and be able to Stretch their credit. They will also get the text and internet benefits of 3Pay every time they top up.

Any customer on WePay and Flat12 can migrate at any time to get free 3-to-3 calls on 3Pay, either on My3 online or on their handsets by calling 444.

If one is on the three mobile dongle with flat 12 tariff is there any advantage to be transfer to that new tariff if one can? ie if calling a 3 mobile take the simcard out and make the call, sms from the computer, and skype / msn would it be free on the laptop?

Just in case anyone is interested, imap/smtp email is working fine on my phone using a three pay as you go sim on the 3pay tariff (ie with the free 150MB of data for each top up).

You forgot the free voicemail Diamonds, also the fact that the free stuff lasts for 90 days, not 30 like with other networks and if you make a £10, £15 or £20 top up online or via my3 you get double the texts

I've changed to 3pay on a mobile I mostly use for internet surfing, e-mail etc and a bit of listening to streaming radio (Radio Caroline) in the car.

You can still buy blocks of "unlimited" data by the day, week or month but when I bought a day, instead of using the "unlimited" data it took it off the "free data". One conversation with customer services later and the answer was "it's like that".

For me alternating £5 top ups (to get 150MB of data) and buying blocks of "unlimited" when it's nearly run out seems to be the way to go but it's a bit odd.

I hope I've made the point clear. It doesn't seem to explain on the website. The "free" data is still jolly useful.

If you are on Flat12, think twice before you switch to 3Pay.

Flat 12 lets you stretch your minutes, so £15 addon = 300 minutes. On 3Pay, the £15 only gets you 75 minutes + lots of texts. I hardly text at all, so 3Pay was definitely worse for me. I only realised after switching to 3Pay. I complained and they switched me back reluctantly. Don't make the same mistake.
