I started off with them on the old dial up at £9.99 then switched over to broadband on a special offer they had at the time for 6 months 1meg b/b for the same price as dial up.
Anyway, recently my son complained to them because he was experiencing really bad lag on the internet game he plays (every evening). They happened to notice that we were still being charged £9.99 and wanted to claw back £144.23 from me in the next bill! Now to my way of thinking, it was their error - when the special offer finished, it was surely up to them to put me on the £14.99 price?
What do you think?

I presume that the 6 month offer has expired a while ago which is why they want to claim the money back. If you have signed a contract that states that the tariff will revert to 14.99 after six months, then unfortunately you will have to pay up. They have delivered a service, now it is your turn to pay them for it. Legally it is irrelevant that they have been billing the wrong amount for a while. (although they have billed you the wrong amount for almost 29 months according to your figures? )
